Infoseite // understand attitudes s.Codec regarding the aspect ratio is not

Frage von slugs:

Hello,

I use VirtualDubMod and Divx 6 for mpeg2 files that are on my DVB-S card have to edit.

Only I always stumble on a setting s.Divx codec, which I do not quite understand.
In the tab "Video" under the video resolution to choose the format and the output format.
On entering I leave it always in square pixels (no preference whether the film is in 4:3 or 16:9 is transferred) and then format it so far, I have made the following:

If the film is in 16:9 format has been, then I have PAL 16:9 eingetellt. If the film is in 4:3 format is what is on my 22 "monitor through a letterbox shows, I PAL 4:3 On. Would that be correct so far?
The picture looks strangely distorted, if I "format" quadrat. RESTRICT pixels, just why? The lights I'm not so right. The Picture is already in the Resolutionvon 720 * 576 before. Whether it was 4:3 or 16:9, can the Divx codec but its no preference. Why do I need it again extra settings?

Sun, and now a question about this. The film "My bride and her father and I" was recently broadcast and I've recorded it. He was sent with black bars above and below, which for me is called 16:9 mode. This time, however, I had to 4:3 to ensure that the picture in 16:9 looked distorted. The black bars I gecroppt.
Since then I no longer knew what I DIVX codec should I have a very small part and put him with 1:1, 4:3 and 16:9 encoding. The result you can see here. Sorry, that such a kitschy cutout is. Yeah, I do not cut it when respected hehe:

Some films will be broadcast in true 16:9, with some in letterboxed 4:3. (In both cases, incidentally, you have rectangular pixels. Square pixels, there is no DVB-S.)
Black bars are not autonomous, that it is 4:3 letterbox, when a Cinemascope movie is shown to remain even in 16:9 still black bars.
If you have a monitor in the aspect ratio of 4:3 or 5:4, you can not be at first glance, in what format is broadcast. In one case, the black bars of your computer, in the other, they were already sent. In extreme cases (CinemaScope film and broadcast in 16:9 on 4:3 monitor reproduced), you have even two varieties of "black bar, the closer s.Picture were already sent, and the outer Your computer has generated.

Everything clear? ;)

... äh. Ne: D

Everyone makes it differently and for each case, I must carefully examine how ichs must now adjust. Is so awful: D

Even when the series contradict the transmitter. Ex Sat 1 Navy CIS

Sundays are the new implications of the 6th Squadron, which in true 16:9 augestrahlt be.
Thursdays are consequences of the 2nd ancient Squadron. 4:3 letterbox. What is this? ;)

Sat 1 has a relatively long S.4 :3-held format (RTL long as the important series is broadcast in 16:9). And probably the old episodes, which at this time are synchronized, so only in a letterboxed version. The same is true for samples of older films - still synonymous with the public broadcasters.

For me as an owner of a 16:9 TV is synonymous always annoying. Is broadcast in true 16:9, the switch cars. But in 4:3 letterbox, I see black bars all around and must first activate the zoom manual to set the Picture formatfüllend to get. Because I feel as if I had analog cable ... : (

If I were a PC with DVB-S record, I have fewer problems. I processed the images with various freeware programs lossless DVDs to normal (no Divx, etc..), And because the 16:9 flag is always correctly. At least since I myself can not go wrong.
