Have you recently upgraded the graphics card drivers? With too bright / dark video is often blocked the overlay of graphics-card setting. You can use the normal desktop, separate from the adjustment to regulate for the graphics card.
(Right click desktop => properties => Settings => More Options => "graphics card" => "Video Overlay Settings")
The "points are named according graphics card, or otherwise accessible ...
