Hi Bill36,
UPD, the files are actually standard, they probably contain information about video production, are not for playing or working in other programs but necessary. You can then delete them safely.
Do you still have the original 'too long' version? Then you could synonymous different steps: load into Nero Vision, 'create video DVDs and going to shorten there under the' Edit 'button once final on the right track. Then save and with 'next' it goes back to create DVD.
When you say that quickly in MSP was enough to render, which is actually for me, an indication that something went wrong. Probably because the cause is sought. Soon it was because only a black picture was built - there is the reduced effort to render a minimum.
Maybe you can cut the process in MSP check again depending on what is shortening method you prefer.
