Infoseite // Notebook Hard Drive: Raid or Solid State?

Frage von abcHD:

Hi, I'm a long time to find a laptop that I primarily for HDV editing of video material wants. Main problem is the laptops at a relatively slow hard drive speed, so now I've found 3 options in question would be:

1. Laptop with 2 hard disks in the Raidbetrieb can use;
Disadvantages: There are quite a few such laptops in a reasonably acceptable price range would be. Moreover, it is then when the notebook is a 17Zoller act and the battery life is usually quite low.

2. An external raid that can connect via eSATA;
Can someone tell me how this is because the speeds in comparison to an internal system behave?
Disadvantage: Due to the external device is of course severely limited mobility.

3. The 3rd Possibility is a Solid State hard drive to buy.
I now have a 128GB SSD for only discovered about 400 ¬. (OCZ 2.5 "128GB Flash Solid State Disk Core Series SSD) Can I get a little more accurate to say the hard drive and how they behave in speed compared to normal or Raidfestplatten?

Am I really would prefer the 3rd Possibility of assuming the hard drive for my needs quickly enough. In addition I have an external 500GB hard drive which I have had enough space. Then I could always just the files for a film project of recent troubles are due to the SSD pack and would thus be very synonymous Mobil.

So I hope someone here has experience or can give me any advice. Thanks in advance!

From my own experience, I would waive my system with a RAID 0 run. If a hard drive fails, everything is gone.

Get a notebook with two normal 2.5 "hard disks and let them run in RAID 1. This gives you security.

Then you install your system AND lagerst your project files.

Then you buy a Western Digital hard drive myBook. This can also with a RAID system. Then you can then store your data and then you can use my RAID 0 operation synonymous make.

Just an aside: To capture the smooth and normal playback of today's cutting hard materials are fast enough (25 Mbps HDV = 3.125 MB / s). Critically, it will be in uncompressed material.

Incidentally but importantly, with reasonably sensible notebook processor fetch. Wenns jerky, it is not auto s.den the slow hard btw today synonymous Geschwindigikeiten of 150MB / s read of the creation of a file.

Thank you in advance for your reply. So if you recommend Raid 0 then only external. If it were not for the connection to the bottle neck because almost 2 plates s.einem are connected?
If I apply for an external Raidmodell would decide, I would but I think more to a laptop with only one hard drive tendency, since the choice is simply much bigger and you do not s.einen 17Zöller is bound. Is synonymous been relatively safe.
Can maybe someone of something to say SSD alternative. From the security which should be better than a normal speed and of the raid may be a superfluous? Maybe someone knows specifically SSD? The relatively low price makes me somewhat skeptical.

Here the data (however, the manufacturer's specifications):
Access time <0.35 ms
Read Speed 133 MB / s (max.)
Writing speed 89 MB / s (max.)
Data Transfer Rate 300 MBps

Otherwise, I s.ein NL with at least 2 * 2.4 GHz processor and min. 3GBRam thought.

Hello,

yes, the connection is a bottleneck, unless USB 3.0 or eSATA.

Only: Remember, you'll only, if you ever data of a plate to the other side view (eg, System -> External). When capturing, rendering and cut when you notice nothing.

They are much too short on the market to think about what qualified to say.
The last generation of Solid State Disks primarily through their lameness shone and was only an alternative for systems with no moving parts.
For the present there are already some previews, which they certify good values - everything else is done but only with the time saved to be saying.

And as always, I wonder whether it would necessarily be a notebook. If a performance is important leads not s.einem desktop (or at least Barebone) over.
Several hard disks, faster processor, optical drives, constant load - these are small metal box with the tiny fans are anything but ideal.
