calibration of multiple monitors

Frage von pappe:
Juli 2005

hi please help me!
have a flat screen, a tube monitor and a TV. all three show different colors. 've created with different icc profile adobe gamma. can specify only one in windows, which have then all! In addition, the monitors have farbstich despite adobe gamma is still an individual. try to remove them using the settings of my vga card failed.

1. I can I have a (color meter spyder or similar) to buy for more precise calibration?
2. how can I set multiple profiles for different monitors?
3. And is such a spyder (but rather intended for print) in the location to calibrate my video overlay, which goes out s.den tv) (for video editing applications?

Please help me.

Antwort von Peter S.:

All three displays have very different techniques in the screen layout, even on the TV to a different Resolutionund space. TFT tube and you can with a calibration system in some coordinate, not the TV. These differences in display systems can not be adjusted. If you want to grow the Colorspyder you: The smallest model can calibrate only one monitor per PC.

Antwort von pappe:

color vision synonymous offers nen spyder for tv. calibration is then to make the manual of the program manual. that does not sound very useful, right?

what do you think?

Hello cardboard,
I am concerned for some time been synonymous with this problem.
I put two pretty much the same old HP TFT displays and one-a JVC studio monitor. The panel displays, I now had to stop so that the first, a color temperature of 6500K and the other has almost 9000K, so they represent approximately the same color.
Eligibility for your problem just as the smallest versions of the Spyder2PRO Studio and GretagMacBeth of the Eye-One solutions Display2, the latter being synonymous can be used for multiple Calculator. The Spyder version is released only for a license. Only s.diesen two versions of a dual-head support is available.
Now to the principle of the calibration. Here I am only giving information for Gretag package, because you have me here very well informed through the hotline. To save different profiles for the two PC monitors to be able you need a dual head graphics card has two separate graphics chips available (in my Gainward Dual DVI unfortunately not the case). I really only know this from the industry.
I guess time at the Spyder version is a similar principle. It remains therefore to you, make like me, only the possibility, with the help of a rough calibration settings directly s.den monitors. I have appended here thee times the answer or instructions of the Gretag representative with:
Multi-monitor profiling on PC with Eye-One Match 3
================================================== ==

General notes:
-----------------------------

To distinguish two monitors, you need two graphics cards or a dual graphics card with two
Graphics chips, and two separate output signals. In addition, of course, has a matching synonymous
Graphics driver installed.

Please note: The monitor calibration process in Eye-One Match is made in two steps. The
first is the monitor calibration, which requires the individual gamma curves in the graphics card. The second step is the profiling, which stores an individual ICC monitor profile as a profile in the System control panel screen. If you have a dual-monitor graphics card with only one and two output signals, it is not possible individual gamma curves for both monitors
(Save the two monitors are controlled by the same gamma curve). However, you have the option of an individual ICC monitor profile for both monitors in the control panel display to deposit "to. On dual monitor graphics cards with only a graphics chip, you need to decide which monitor you want to use for color-critical work. However, we generally recommend the use of dual-monitor graphics cards with two graphics chips.

Example for Windows XP, how to profile two monitors:
-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------
Before you can calibrate both monitors and profile, you first need to "enable multi-monitor option in your system. Please click on Start / Settings / Control Panel / Screen ". In the next window select the "Monitor 1" and select the Use the button "this monitor as primary monitor." Then click on "Monitor2" and select "Windows to expand onto this monitor". Close
Control Panel.

Now you can calibrate both monitors and profile. Start the Eye-One Match and push the launch window of i1Match to be profiled on the monitor. Run out and save the profile after the profile. It is automatically saved as the default profile for the profiled monitor. To verify or to assign the profile, go back to
Panel / Monitor / settings. Choose on the 1st or 2 Monitor the "Advanced mode" and open the "tab" Color Management. In the selection list should now be the profile as the default monitor profile that you have created.

Note: The above procedure is the same, synonymous when you use two graphics cards, or a dual graphics card with two graphics chips and two output signals.

I hope I could help a little, and I would be very pleased if someone would post here yet, the ows have experience with these pa

hi marco.

Many thanks for your detailed response. had unfortunately "only" ne gforce 6800 also nix dual head. that's my endeavor in vain.

I was still very interested in how you have your jvc monitor that serves you so sure as a reference, calibrated?

Since the TV should be calibrated only once, regardless of the calculator, to serve as a reference, so with Color Bars and Pluge from a signal generator.

If I had the means test bildern tv set properly, I must correct then create another profile for the computer?

or it would be better, not over vga card nen output but go through the firewire to the monitor? Full image is different, the video overlay application on my cut fw - signal?

Antwort von mdb:

The entire calibration is indeed just as important and useful, where it goes from digital to analog. The DA converter of the various devices stop falling out differently. Whether a device (eg graphics card) better or worse than another (eg Firewire DV / Analogkonverter is), can not say so in general. As long as you remain in the digital domain, forget the calibration.

If the TV monitor is calibrated, then (and only if) it makes sense to present appropriate test signals from the PC to the TV and turn s.den color profiles or GraKaeinstellungen for TV-out until the picture is correct. You could, of course, synonymous with the GraKaausgang appropriate measuring instruments calibrated, so Pegeloszilloskop and vector scope (and sawest, which has what many GraKas make do with PAL television standards rather less) (viewed from the standpoint of a photo technician from)
