DVL-Digest 1204 - Postings: Index Digital Media Press Field order please help! Firewire Cable Length [vx2k] VX2K Frequent Blank Audio Problem ! Digital Media Press - "Perry Mitchell" From: Has anyone used this card (formerly Media 100, now back in Wired's hands) to transcode DV to MPEG 2 (for DVD) in realtime? VBR I don't need; this is just talking head stuff, but I want to know if it works, and if it will process a full hour or two Final Cut movie without a glitch or hiccup. Alternatively, does anyone know of another real fast solution for DV to MPEG2 (on the Mac side)? Field order please help! - "Perry Mitchell" From: Vidiot >I changed the mpeg encoder settings to upper field first then it appears >correctly in the tv, I am burning that version now to confirm. >Does anyone know why? Because the camera does bottom field first. >I just can't make sense of it, I am also a newbie. >Adriano Grassi There appears to be a difference of opinion among companies and to what field is what. So the most you can do is experiment. That is why I suggested changing the MPEG-2 encoder, as that is what I also had to do. Firewire Cable Length - "Perry Mitchell" From: Cliff Elliott Thanks for the feed back re the length of firewire cables, it would appear the consensus of opinion on this list and the information I have gained from other sources is that a reliable working length should be no more than three meters, and to go beyond this a repeater is required. Now I know some of you have had success with longer cables but I was looking for the average or statistical length. This much I now know from first hand experience, two meters works, five meters does not.
