Agreed on that. Xpress DV "likes" the TI chipset and works best with regular old MS compliant 1394 cards (Pyro's and SIIG are the two most trouble free). I'm not sure if the Maxtor card fits that bill. Some cards like the Audigy are on different 1394 specs and work sporadically with XDV as a firewire card.
