DVL-Digest 501 - Postings: Index JVC DV500 Vs. SONY DSR300 JVC DV500 Vs. SONY DSR300 - "Perry" I've been busy the last few days, but I don't believe Alexei has got around to announcing that my article on the two cameras is posted on his web site: http://www.dvcentral.org/gy-dv500.html FWIW I think the Sony is a little more robust and has the better viewfinder, and has more control over picture variables; the JVC has as good (maybe better) picture quality if you can live with the fewer choices, and is lighter and less power hungry. The JVC is definitely better value for money but the most significant factor is probably the tape formats; if you want either DVCam and big tapes, or 100% compatibility with consumer DV then the choice is already made. I would be very happy with either, and they run rings for value around certain other pro camcorders you could consider.
