DSR-PD150 test
DVCPro25 vs DVCPro50

DSR-PD150 test - "Adam J. Wilt"

On the 150 I tested, this was also true. What I meant was that the point at
which aliasing set in did not change. Upping the sharpness only made the
aliasing leap forth with undiminished vigour.

Agreed. No one's crazy enough to drop the antialiasing filter altogether; the
pix would be unwatchable. But Sony has followed Canon's lead in this regard
and opted for a higher limiting resolution at the expense of much more
visible aliasing.

Absolutely! The aliased components are right in the frequency band where the
sharpness control has greatest effect.

Hard to say. This is more of a political issue than a valid technical one
IMHO.
Will they accept uncompressed D-5 field recordings (unlikely in any event as
D-5 isn't a very portable format) edited on Avid at AVR77? Whoops, it's been
compressed!
Will they take Digital Betacam footage edited in an uncompressed SDI linear
bay? Whoops, DigiBeta is compressed!
You might have no problem shooting DVCAM and editing to DigiBeta or D-5. But,
the guy who looks your tape over might be the eagle-eye with a chip on his
shoulder who Shall Not Allow To Pass any DV25 footage. Who knows? I don't!
All I can say is that if Discovery Channel is your target, you'd best sniff
out the current policies, politics, and requirements for submission.
Good luck,
Adam Wilt
