Think of it like writing on a sheet of paper 1.5 times space between the lines. The information is still the same but you use 1.5 times the paper.< Sorry Axel, that is not true. DVCAM has 1.5 times wider heads. I've even got a microscope picture of the two heads to prove it! Perry Mitchell Video Facilities http://www.perrybits.co.uk/ DVCAM VS MiniDV - "Perry" I understand that the PD150 has only one set of 15 micron heads, so as Adam remarks it relies upon the azimuth to resolve the track overlaps when recording standard DV. This is a very similar scenario to the standard DV cameras that record LP. This puts a greater demand on the playback machine to have the correct geometry and is why it is recommended to only use this mode when playing back on the same machine that recorded the tape. It may be of interest to note that the DSR2000 deck has separate DV and DVCam width playback heads to give the best performance on either format. Not if you dub across using 1394 / i.LINK / FireWire > And another question...is there a MiniDV deck with firewire??? All of them: Sony Video Walkmen GR-DV300, GR-DV900, JVC's BR-DV600, Panasonic's new AG-DV1000 as well as the older AG-DV2000, and the Sony DHR-1000. Cheers, Adam Wilt a DV FAQ: http://www.adamwilt.com/DV.html New Sony DSR250 - "Perry" When Robert said that Glass was a plastic too, I believe he was referring to its physical rather than chemical state. Actually glass is technically a liquid! I can see no absolute reason why a 'plastic' lens element should not outperform one made of glass. When I got my first spectacles at the age of 52, I insisted on glass lenses but they are heavy and did not prove to be any more scratch resistant than my subsequent plastic lensed replacements. My optician swears there is no quality difference. What really counts is the ability to make up the complicated elements necessary to construct the exotic lenses being demanded by the market, and being made possible by computer design. I suspect that eventually it will only be possible to construct these designs with plastic elements. I once told a member of Canon's broadcast design team that my ideal 2/3 inch portable lens would be 10x5mm when they had just released the 8x6mm. He told me he thought 10x5 was impossible. They have just released a 11x4.5mm!!! Perry Mitchell Video Facilities http://www.perrybits.co.uk/ Using a camcorder as pure data - "Perry" Tim Hewitt: We've discussed this many times and most folk say it's impossible! I think it should be quite possible, and I would be particularly interested in using it to allow archiving DV NLE projects to a single DV tape. You will have to hide your data inside pseudo DV frames, but that should not be too difficult to a bright spark like you. You will need to get the exact DV data format to make sure you have all the right headers etc. You will have to protect against tape drop out, probably by using redundant code, because it's an open loop system and never goes back to reread like most data media. Good luck Perry Mitchell Video Facilities http://www.perrybits.co.uk/ (diese posts stammen von der DV-L Mailingliste - THX to Adam Wilt and Perry Mitchell :-) [up] |
