They both use 2/3in CCDs, but the JVC records standard DV (actually slightly modified to give locked audio) and is limited to MiniDV tapes and therefore 60mins record max. dual aspect ratio portable monitors - Perry Mitchell Enrico: You can indeed buy dual aspect ratio portable monitors. Panasonic even do a little 7inch switchable widescreen/normal LCD device. If money is tight, you just need to get a technician to tweak the vertical scan down by 25% on a normal video monitor. Nothing strange at all. - "Perry" Steve Mullen posted(re DSR-250): >Nothing strange at all. In full WIDE the Max is F2 while at full TELE it is 1.6.< not quite Steve, in full WIDE it is f1.6 and in full TELE it is actually f2.4. This is what is called ramping and is usual for any Zoom lens unless especially compensated for. Actually I have my doubts about this. These are the numbers reported in the viewfinder (there are no graduations on the lens control because it is a servo type) but I found very little difference in the actual exposure levels as I was doing a test today. Video lenses are notorious for not expressing real exposure, unlike film lenses that use t-stop values that actually relate to how much light comes out the back!
