Not hugely familiar with Photoshop. Could anyone please suggest a few quick fixes to prep the stills in PS for printing.< Not much to worry about: 1) Convert aspect ratio of each grab by changing 'Image Size' and de-selecting 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' 2) If necessary, de-interlace selected areas using a 1 pixel vertical 'Motion Blur' 3) Convert color space (depending on codec used) by using 'Levels' and setting 'Output' to 16 to 235 (or simply set to taste) 4) Compile montage to taste on a new canvas 5) Finally 'Change Image Size' - allow 'Resample Image' - set required DPI - set required 'Print Size' 6) After test print, be prepared to tweak color balance and maybe gamma (use 'Curves') FCP general error message - Adam Wilt > > error." this started after installing Cleaner 5. i uninstalled > > cleaner 5 and even did a reinstall of FCP. > > that's because when you install cleaner 5, it also installs the motodv > codec which conflicts with the apple dv codec. just trash those > extensions(something like radv) in your system folder and you should > be fine. After disapbling all the "Rad*" extensions, also re-enable the Apple FireWire Enablers, which may have been disabled by the MotoDV install (I know they are when installing EditDV; don't remember if Cleaner does that as well). Cheers, Adam Wilt Mini-DV Compression - Adam Wilt 3) I noticed some tapes have DVCAM and Mini-DV written on them ? > What does this mean ? Will it work on a Mini-DV camera ? "miniDV" means the small cassette that fits into most DV camcorders. If it says "miniDV", it will fit in any camcorder with the "miniDV" logo on it. On the tape itself, you can record either "DV" or "DVCAM". A cassette marked both "miniDV" and "DVCAM" is a miniDV tape manufactured and quality-checked to the more stringent DVCAM specifications, and sold for use in a DVCAM device using miniDV tapes -- but you can record DV on it just as easily.
