Problems With Toast 16:9 anamorphic : lower quality footage on my DV-cam ? - "Perry" Filip posted: >I have Sony TRV900E. It can shoot DV in 16:9. But some people say that the footage then is of a significantly lower quality. Because almost all DV camcorders do so by reducing the resolution of the active image on their CCD image sensors. They reduce the size of the image sensor by 25% then stretch that by 33% resulting in a significantly degraded image. Is this true ? How can I best shoot with my DV-cam for playback on a widescreen 16:9 TV-set ?< The horizontal stretching will be true of any camera source, and is done in the analog circuits of the tv set by expanding the scanning, so there is no artifacts involved. The vertical stretching is done in all consumer DV cameras that offer proper anamorphic wide screen mode (as opposed to letterbox mode) and does result in artifacts due to the real time interpolation used. You will get better quality by shooting in 4:3 and then stretching and cropping the image in post, although this will need a lot of rendering time of course. After Effects does a really good job, but EditDV PZR filter worked pretty good as well. This release is currently in beta.< I think you mean 5.02 Bruce! Has anybody out there with Cleaner 5 on the Mac had much luck with producing movies for Windows Media? Any tricks to make it more reliable? Perry Mitchell Video Facilities http://www.perrybits.co.uk/ (diese posts stammen von der DV-L Mailingliste - THX to Adam Wilt and Perry Mitchell :-) [up] |
