People who need fancier QuickTime codecs could purchase those separately as add-ins.< I can sympathise with the sentiment but Keith has the wrong notion of what Cleaner does. Cleaner doesn't use 'expensive QuickTime codecs', but the same ones that you can access via QT Pro for . You pay for the extensive image processing power, extra encoding control and batch file capabilities. The only unique QT codec features are related to Sorenson Developer Edition which needs Cleaner to control it. Cleaner does give access to some non QT codecs like MPEG, Real and WMP which are included in the package although these are pretty basic. I think the real problem with Cleaner is that there are simply far too many versions and options, and that these ought to be rolled into the basic app. to justify the cost. It is caught between being a fully pro package and trying to attract consumers, and along with the change of ownership the marketing has ended up in a real mess. Incidentally, there is of course 'Cleaner-Lite' which may suit Keith's requirements.
