MPEGs going white in FCP render

MPEGs going white in FCP render - Adam Wilt

Typically I see this when the appropriate codec cannot be found (i.e., trying
to play DVCPRO50, uncompressed, or HDCAM QuickTime files on a machine without
the codecs installed).
QuickTime 5 (at least) does not supply an encoder for either MPEG-1 or MPEG-2,
although it can decode them. It seems you have the "dec" in codec, but not the
"co" ("COmpressor/DECompressor").
You probably need to obtain a 3rd party compressor for MPEG, or get DVD Studio
Pro, which (according to the FCP manual) supplies its own.
Cheers,
Adam Wilt
