16:9 (720 x 576) to 4:3 (640 x 480)

Frage von SebastianF:
September 2007

Hi @ all

I have today with a camera image is captured, which are in 16:9 format (for lack of a camera in the same 4:3 absorbs).

I'm trying now for a small eternity with VirtualDub (Transform and Crop zero to 576 x 576 and then resize to 640 x 480 to equalize) or Avisynth (16:9 -> 4:3 script from this forum, but the absence of Codecs "dvsd" complains that I still could not fix, especially since the resolution would then not 640 x 480), the raw video into a full-4: 3 to Resolutionvon with a 640 x 480 pixels.
Quality losses are relatively me no preference - as little as possible, as much as necessary - the picture may be distorted not only his.

All write only that the programs cut all yourself (I have Pinnacle Studio 9 and Premiere Elements 3.0 here so synonymous and tested), but these add to output as 640 x 480 4:3-format only the top and bottom black bars s. and zoom in on the Picture. However, I need a full edition.

Anyone here knows a program with which it is possible to accomplish this?
Again in brief: 720 x 576 (16:9) to 640 x 480 (4:3). I have s.den left and right edges when shooting the way, already in anticipation space left. Actually we have just left and right a bit and then cut away everything to bring Resolution640 x 480. But how and with what program?

A desperate s.alle thank you in advance, which really help.

Bye,
Sebastian.

With Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0sollte it on the "Scale" is really no problem. See Manual "scaling".

Hi.

The problem is that Premiere Elements only zooming is possible until the black borders are gone. But I could imagine that the trimming of the edges is high.
Scale ok, but I need only the numerical values: - /.

So far the best solution seems to me to be with VirtualDub to 576 x 576 for cropping (left and right 76 pixels off) and then disregard the aspect ratio to 640 x 480 scale. The slight upscaling makes barely noticeable and the equalization seems useful if it somehow synonymous is a little too wide looks.
I had made notes for me, as I have on the 76 pixels per Page come. As far as I still remember, so 4:3 is synonymous with 12:9. So to come to 16:9, you have the width to 25% decrease, ie a 12.5% margin = 90 Wow, why have I given 76 times? Mh .. equal times in VirtualDub and try to check the result.
There would therefore 540 x 576 out, which I at 640 x 480 distort. Schaun time.

The effort could save you, for example if you would use intelligent Programs. Avid Free DV together with Quicktime should accomplish.

In Vdub times I would try:

1.) in the 16:9 film the black edges wegcroppen: -> You get in a movie as 720 x 428 format.

2) Your new film is but a Height of 576, ie you should accordingly synonymous Width admit or 720:428 (gecroppte Height) = New Width: 576 or new Width = 720 * 576/428 = 968 (straight Value !)

3.) in accordance with Vdub resize ie 968 x 576

4) The width of the desired 720 will then, again cropping and although the right and left like so much at (968-720) / 2 = 124

5) Result anschauen ....

Have your desired format of 640 x 480 completely overlooked, but equally so: 720 * 480/428 = 808 Width as new, then cropping it to 640 ...

Avid Free DV is no more!

Hi.

Thank you, I would like to try, but there are no black edges in this AVI. I suppose s.die Resolutionstimmt anyway, because the computer - pixel aspect ratio to another have. The question is whether the observed vDub.
The source is actually a SonyHC3 enabled with I-link of Convert HDV to DV. However, synonymous only the essence, because it is already difficult enough with DV appears to be the aspect ratio with the right to vote to change the proportions (ie of 16:9 to 4:3). I dare not even remember how then with a m2t stream must proceed.

Tonight I'm trying to follow your instructions, apart from wegcroppen black edges.

That to me yesterday of procedure, incidentally, I have already tested. The proportions seem to agree, at least provides a distortion None (5 people have geguckt: P) and that's enough from me already. But if I have the mathematical proof, that aspect ratios continue to vote (no preference whether or not in your or my method), it is synonymous to the perfectionist in me satisfied;).

Interesting that there is somehow no one-click solutions for something there, or not known.

Hello,
as a Premiere Pro user, I understand Your experiments do not.
I create a 640x480px square pixel uncompressed Project and import the DV widescreen File. Premiere PAR recognizes the car and shows a 640x480 on the monitor.

Since the source material does not but 480px is 576px high, the picture must be scaled until it fits into the cut (there are 84.4%). That's it already. Nothing is distorted and nothing worse.
