After seeing the Canon XH-A1 for the first time via Firewire s.meinen computers have made (Win XP SP2, enough memory and RAM speed), I noticed that the "signal-to-setup" excludes the following items:
Time Code: remained Sp-play away (gray) Comp. Ausg: remained AV-> DV away (gray) HD Down Conv away (gray) Letterbox: remained
When I then just the video in DV PAL tried to restore, everything went great ... but the net is now HDV, or does it? Or was the car downkonvertiert or how?

it sounds s.als whether the settings are not always / fully agree (especially CS3 so I would check) ... So: what was recorded? agree terms of reference be? evt are still changes / settings when capturing to consider? what are the settings for the XH A1 when capturing? was recorded with HDV? as HDV capture? or dv downconvertieren? or only later when exporting? ect ....
which can help you out of here a little to say
CS3 is a beginner and the XH A1 is not necessarily the first choice ... Both are difficult for beginners to handle - just like you realize ... yes expensive software and a thick cam may indeed make an impressive, if nothing helps, but the basics are missing already trained to give themselves to them, to see that you do not even know what kind of material is what it has allegedly been captured ... as the settings were there? can be reconstructed? product of chance? ;-) ... tip: 1) right-click on the video file in project window -> properties ... or 2) the file with the freeware tool "g-spot" analysis, then at least you know what time it is for a gecapturetes material is ... therefore should be synonymous, the firewire cable ok so if the capture has ever worked
my well-intentioned and nice rat: Pick someone in your neighborhood you can introduce in both ... as a self-taught, it will be very very difficult and the forum can / will / will not you answer what it all - especially in the further video editing with premiere - yet to be played on you ... otherwise you spend more time in the forum than with the video :-))

I myself have a XH A1 and working with Premiere 1.5 with the HDV additional tool. I prefer Premiere 1.5 directly under Camera of the format 1440 x 1080 pure. My OS is Vista 64 bit with 4 GB of RAM and dual core CPU. Everything is stable for 1 year.
