I have the problem that my NV-GS500 via USB cable is not detected, or the installation of the streaming device stops.
Before I start running now, and get a firewire card, I want it but once up and running with USB.
My configuration: Compac N620c laptop with USB 2.0 port Windows XP Prof. SP 1 - No upgrade available Intel 82801 USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller's Device Manager reports all ok, Driver of Microsoft Date 1.6.02 Panasonic installed patch for Windows XP Support Of Page
The first time you connect your camcorder and PC for Driver of installation is detected a new hardware. The subsequent installation of the Panasonic DVC streaming device is terminated with the following error message:
> An error occurred during installation of the device. > The class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device.
Thereafter, the camcorder if repeated insertion is no longer recognized.
Any ideas other than Firewire to buy?

Thanks for the note, but it was not about the operation of the camcorder as a webcam but the dubbing of Mini-DV to hard drive / MotionDV Studio. If the Splitcam - Drivers for synonymous for them?

Your sporting ambition, the whole thing via USB to get it running in honor, but the effort is not worth it! Firewire is a better alternative to dubbing. A firewire card costs around 10 euro and so the installation is simply synonymous. http://forum.slashcam.de/usb-oder-firwire-vt33913.html

Although I know no solution to your problem, but I had the beginning of s.keine difficulties with my NV-GS180 and the data transmission via USB.
New hardware detected, drivers installed, et voila; analogy when downloading the (admittedly grauseligen) images.
