I have only a very modest system (dual core 2.4 g, 4 G ram) and would like to edit HDV material. I am already very clear that the borderline is, as I said in this forum have experienced. To my question:
What do you have the settings for "Media and Diskcache" and "Storage and processing of multi-processor" from? The individual terms will be stated but what is the best settings should be noted, is unfortunately very little said ... - Are there any other controls you have to observe?
Thanks and greetings

One should at HDV editing on a weak system and reduce everything off, not when editing or capturing even necessary, so background processes, unneeded hardware etc.
Here is a brief description for Windows XP (with Vista, but could be similar, I think). Everything at your own risk! Point 1: For example, in Systemkonfirgurationsprogramm -> "Startup" all autostart entries, or even disable remove the non-systemic importance for the NLE, or even necessary. We must however make sure that nothing really turned off what the system needs to run! The System Configuration Utility can be found by using the "Run" msconfig "enter.
Item 2: A second Hardwarprofil create in Device Manger and all non-essential hardware components turn off. How it works: "System Properties" menu -> right click on "My Computer" -> "Settings" -> "Hardware" -> "Hardware Profiles" Then below the Available Hardware Profiles "copy the current profile and rename. Close All, Restart When booting select the new profile, then in System Properties -> Device Manger "to disable the component with the right click ->" Properties "->" Device usage "->" device in the current hardware profile is not used " You can disable eg Communications port, a TV card, card reader, DVD-Laufwerke/Brenner, NIC, USB controller (if not just an external drive to be addressed or the mouse, keyboard, etc.) Again, make sure nothing is disabled, what system is important or even needed!
Item 3: Visual Effects minimized. "System Properties" -> "Advanced" -> under "Performance" "Settings" -> "Visual Effects" For opimale power to adjust "or click the" Custom "remove all the tick, which is dispensable Schnickschnackfunktion.
Item 4: graphics card on the "middle color (16 bit)" and 1024 x 768 pixels to reduce (if not higher by the NLE settings required).
Item 5: Under "System Properties" -> "Device Manager" -> "Drives" for all except the hard drive on the system properties are -> "Policies" -> "Write caching on the disk check" tick away
Item 6: In the IDE controllers (primary and secondary) under "Advanced Features" activate DMA
maybe point 7: Paging file enlarge System Properties -> Advanced -> Performance -> Settings -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory -> Change: Minimum and maximum double Göße set of RAMs
All changes subject to change and at your own risk! Possibly. a little trial & error.
Greeting shipoffools
PS: That it takes at least two hard disks, I must not mention, right?

Thank you for your trouble! Really good suggestions ...
What do I need to just under AU in the preferences observed. Especially in the score: "media-and Diskcache" and "store-and multi-processor processing"?
Thanks in advance

Gar nix. Simply and Ausknipsen or not. MP rendering brings but nothing on your system, even in low fgar not computationally intensive operations WE just the material farbkorrigieren or so. For more complex issues, in turn, did you just not enough memory to render all the effects to be effective and would get error messages or at least your system would be slower than without MP. Chicken-egg problem somehow ... Memory settings to allow. Disk & Mediencahce on a free plate, not in the default user directory, as this usually already is heavily frequented (because each program where temporary data and test configurations) and thus synonymous fragmented. That kills any performance.

Soooo the problem with the performance I think I solved :-)
I am now NEN Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.67 Ghz FSB 1333 and 4 Ghz 1066MHz RAM increase! This is the maximum of what my motherboard still supports ... As the Vista OS, I will use 64-bit. Here was a large part of the user is recommended.
What is now the perfect setting, just under the item "Memory-processor and multi-processing"?
Thank you and nice WE
Antwort von Mylenium:
With only 4GB do not synonymous Vista 64bit. Sorry, but "performance" has not only a fast processor with 4 cores and to do so. It is simply shortsighted. As already said: MP ausgeknipst let AE render so leave all other settings so lasssen. At best, in CS4, a second "Processor" MP per use, but that was it already synonymous. Damned mathematics ...

Why then use any multi-processor computer wenns nix it brings? And XP Pro, the OS I currently use managed effectively only 3 gigabytes. 64-bit Vista can already look at the full 4 gig address ... So for me is always more - more :-) What kind of system you use, unless Mylenium?
So, thanks for your answer Mylenium, but as I said, white people still ne way the default settings in AE and Premiere to optimize.
