Tools to record the screen are often optimal only for "low-graphics" applications. However, running compute-intensive games that are for the calculation of a video file in the background, hardly any resources left.
Have you ever thought about setting up a video camera? This should be either an LCD monitor filming (not flickering), or the camera should be set to 60 Hz exposure time (so can reduce the flicker of a tube monitor).
