When project files need to be exchanged between different editing systems (Adobe Premiere, Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve, Apple Final Cut, etc.), this is usually done via XML – the editing project is exported as such and imported into the other software. However, with complex projects, information is often lost in the process, meaning some work steps have to be laboriously reconstructed.
A new tool called CornerCut aims to provide a remedy here. It currently converts .prproj files directly into .drp files, with the entire timeline, including all cuts, speed ramps, audio tweaks, and keyframes, intended to be transferred. In the future, project files from other common editing programs are also to be supported.
CornerCut was developed by up-and-coming filmmaker
Sasha Sibley and is currently still in beta. The tool is web-based; to perform a conversion, you must upload your project file. Use is free during the testing phase, as errors can still occur during data conversion depending on the project (feedback is welcome).
