Digital moving imagery is facing its next level of virtualization—videos dreamed up by AIs with no connection to reality—just as Eastman Kodak presents its first new color negative film for cinema productions in 15 years. This is likely no coincidence. The longing for analog materiality has been steadily increasing for years, and in the age of generative AI, further attractive niches for tangible film will certainly open up as a counter-reaction.  VERITA 200D was developed in close collaboration with writer, director, and producer Sam Levinson and cinematographer Marcell Rév, HCA, ASC, specifically for use on the third season of the HBO series *Euphoria*. The film stock is now available to other filmmakers upon request in 65mm, 35mm, and 16mm formats (Euphoria is the first television production to be shot to a significant extent on large-format 65mm film).
Numerous commercials and music videos have also already been shot with the material (such as Moses Sumney&s "Vintage" by Marcell Rév, see below), as well as A24&s upcoming film *The Death of Robin Hood*, written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, starring Hugh Jackman and photographed by Pat Scola, ASC. Compared to Kodak&s VISION3 color negative films, this negative film features a shorter yet exceptionally dense dynamic range, which is intended to result in a more classic cinematic look.
