ARRI made affordable: ARRI Omnibar - modular LED bar with interchangeable attachments and magnetic mounting

[20:23 Tue,5.May 2026   by Thomas Richter]

ARRI has introduced its first new product following the acquisition by the Riedel Group: the battery-powered linear full-spectrum LED bar, Omnibar, along with its own expansion ecosystem. With the Omnibar, ARRI is entering a new segment—including in terms of pricing—targeting film productions, event lighting, and use in smaller shoots for social media clips. The Omnibar aims to distinguish itself from classic tube LEDs through several well-thought-out features, such as interchangeable optics, modular combinability, and multiple practical mounting options. The relatively low entry price of 730 euros (by ARRI standards) is made possible by manufacturing in China—a first for ARRI.

Technology

The heart of the Omnibar is the ARRI RGBMA LED engine (Red, Green, Blue, Mint, Amber), which covers a color temperature range from 1,700 to 20,000 K. ARRI specifies both CRI and TLCI at 98 at 5,600 K. The brightness can be dimmed steplessly down to 0.1%. Additionally, there is a boost mode that allows for up to 25% more light output at temperatures below 25 °C. Several effects are integrated, which can be displayed fluidly across the various pixel zones. The lifespan of the LEDs is stated at 50,000 hours.

Two Omnibar Versions

The ARRI Omnibar is available in two different lengths (Omnibar 2 at 2 feet or approx. 60 cm in length with a weight of 1.3 kg, and the Omnibar 4 at 4 feet or 120 cm in length and 2.3 kg) with a black or blue/silver weather-resistant IP65-certified housing.

High Light Output

The light output of the Omnibar 4 is stated as up to 1,475 lx at 1 m when operated without an attachment optic—on paper, this significantly outperforms competitors such as the Astera Titan (785 lx), the Nanlite PavoTube II 30C (647 lx), or the Amaran T4C (744 lx). The Omnibar 2 offers 16 pixel zones, while the Omnibar 4 offers 32, enabling fluid effects and transitions.

Modular Combinability

A practical feature is the ability to combine multiple Omnibars thanks to their modular design via daisy-chaining. This requires a so-called Omnibase Hub as a central power and data source, to which a total of up to 12 feet of combined Omnibar 4 and Omnibar 2 lights can be connected via daisy-chain. One Omnibase Hub powers a total of up to 24 feet of lights across up to 6 ports in two or more daisy-chains, providing both power and control data, and supports up to 6 DMX universes (one per port).

Magnetic Attachments

A special feature of the ARRI Omnibar is the magnetic interchangeable optic system, which allows for easier switching between different attachments with varying light designs. Three attachments are available:
- A Round Diffuser with a beam angle of 145° for soft, tube-like ambient light
- A Flat Diffuser (130° beam angle) with a narrow, bar-like beam profile
- An Intensifier (60°) for bundled and thus brighter light

For maximum brightness, the Omnibar can also be used without optics; the beam angle is then 115°—making it particularly suitable for use in softboxes or as indirect bounce light.

Simplified Rigging

ARRI has paid special attention to the mounting system: the Omnibar can be easily attached to metal surfaces at the shooting location using the integrated strong neodymium magnets. Furthermore, the Omnibar offers integrated cable slots, which can be used to secure the Omnibar to rails, poles, or other anchor points using safety cables or cable ties.

Mounting options

Using the optional Omnigrip, multiple Omnibars can be connected seamlessly end-to-end for continuous lighting, or mounted to classic rigging solutions like light stands via the Omnipin. And with the help of special Omniclip mounting brackets—plastic clips available in three different angles—the Omnibar can be attached to almost any surface. The set also includes a mini tripod with four adjustable height levels for support and an eyebolt adapter. Particularly practical: the Omnibar 4 is slightly shorter than 4 feet, allowing it to fit into standard T8 tube holders.

Battery

According to ARRI, the integrated battery of the Omnibar provides at least 2 hours of runtime at full brightness—and up to 24 hours at reduced brightness. Power supply via USB-C is also possible. The Omnibar 2 has a power consumption of 25 W, and the Omnibar 4 consumes 50 W.

Control via Panel, Wireless, and Cable

The Omnibar can be controlled either via the integrated control panel, wirelessly via the ARRI Omnibar App using its own Bluetooth Mesh protocol, CRMX (LumenRadio TimoTwo, integrated into every light), and—via the optional Omnibase—also via DMX, Art-Net, and sACN.

The new ARRI Bluetooth Mesh Protocol is designed to enable reliable, low-latency synchronization of all connected fixtures—up to 30—which ARRI claims is the first time true frame-accurate synchronicity has been achieved via Bluetooth.

ARRI Omnibar Sets and Prices

ARRI offers the new Omnibar in several different sets—the Omnibar 2 costs around 730 euros solo, and the Omnibar 4 around 970 euros. The Omnibar 2 set, which includes the three optical attachments and various mounting options (Omnigrip, Omnipin, and Omni) as well as a mini tripod and charger, costs approximately 821 euros. Third-party manufacturers such as DoPchoice, Chimera, and LightSock are planning compatible accessories for the ARRI Omnibar.
