At NAB 2026, alongside the Premiere update featuring the new Color Mode, Adobe also introduced the Firefly AI Assistant—an agent integrated directly into Adobe&s Firefly platform. It is designed to allow users to execute complex workflows across various Creative Cloud apps, such as Photoshop, Firefly, Premiere, Lightroom, Express, and Illustrator, using simple prompts. Work steps across different apps are automatically chained together, enabling the completion of multi-stage tasks.
 Adobe Firefly AI Assistant Instead of performing manual actions in different apps, users can simply describe the desired result, and the AI assistant handles the planning and execution in the background. This is intended to enable users with less knowledge of the sophisticated CC apps and their diverse tools to perform complex tasks. At the same time, professional users are expected to be able to accelerate their workflows by automating time-consuming, simple tasks. As an example, one of Adobe&s demo clips shows the output of a subject for various social media ad formats, including cropping, resizing, and generative expansion, as well as photo retouching. Adobe emphasizes that creative control always remains with the user: the assistant suggests and executes steps, but users can intervene, correct results, or change direction at any time. How the assistant worksThe central interface is a chat window within Adobe Firefly. When switching from one CC program to another, the context and conversation history move with you—there is no need to start over. The resulting output files remain fully editable in native Adobe formats. Key features of the Firefly Assistant- Creative Skills: Pre-built workflows—e.g., "Social Media Assets"—enable complex multi-step processes via a single prompt. - Context Sensitivity: The assistant recognizes content type and structure (image, video, design) and suggests tailored actions. - Feedback Integration: Via Frame.io, drafts can be shared, feedback collected, and changes applied directly. - Learning Capability: Over time, the assistant is intended to learn the user&s preferred tools, workflows, and aesthetics. - Third-party models: Adobe plans to expand access to external AI models such as Anthropic&s Claude.  Adobe Firefly AI Assistant Supported Adobe Creative Cloud AppsAt launch, the Firefly Assistant is expected to be able to orchestrate workflows in Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Illustrator, and Adobe Express, covering tasks ranging from photo and video editing to vector graphics and social content. AssessmentThe new Firefly AI Assistant is scheduled to be available in the coming weeks as a public beta. Adobe is clearly positioning it as an answer to the trend toward agentic AI, leveraging the advantage of having professional tools like Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere, and being able to train and integrate its own agent specifically for them. Whether the orchestration across app boundaries works as smoothly in everyday use as described in the announcement remains to be seen in initial tests.  Adobe Firefly AI Assistant For beginners, the concept could significantly flatten the learning curve; for professionals, it remains to be seen how precisely the assistant handles complex source files and individual setups. However, there is, of course, a risk—especially for beginners—that they may never learn or explore the full range of functions, including complex manual workflows and the use of various tools within the different programs.
