Atomos has announced that its two compact 5" HDR monitor recorders
Ninja V and
Ninja V+ will support Panasonic&s new flagship
LUMIX GH6 and thus become capable of recording Apple ProRes RAW via HDMI with a range of different profiles and frame rates - the more powerful Ninja V+ will thus also be capable of recording ProRes RAW video at DCI 4K resolution (4,096 x 2,160 pixels) at up to 120 fps.

The new
Panasonic Lumix GH6 camera has some new features over its predecessor GH5 such as a 5.7K sensor that allows internal recording of 6K60p, 4K120p and FullHD/300 fps H.264, H.265 as well as 5.7K to 30p in Apple ProRes (but not RAW!). However, upcoming firmware updates should also support DCI 4K as well as FullHD in ProRes. Externally, 10-bit 4:2:2 output up to 4K resolution at 60p is currently possible. With a future firmware update, 120p should also be possible at a later date. Here is our
Panasonic GH6 field test: internal 6K 10 bit ProRes LOG, AF, slow motion, skin tones and more.

The two Atomos 5" HDR monitor recorders, the Ninja V and the Ninja V+, provide accurate previews of the Lumix GH6&s image using their 1,000 nits bright monitor and access to a wide range of software tools via their 5" touchscreen, including waveforms, false color, check focus, framing guides, LUTs and image magnification. In addition, the two allow Panasonic GH6 users to record externally using a full range of alternative formats and frame rates up to DCI 4Kp120 ProRes RAW, which is however reserved for the Ninja V+.
The Panasonic GH6 will receive the capability of external DCI 4K RAW recording via HDMI using Atomos Ninja V/V+ in a future firmware update.
