Atomos has introduced the Shinobi 7 RX, a robust, extremely bright 7" HDR touch monitor suitable as a director&s monitor, focus puller monitor, or program/preview display for video mixers. It is an enhanced version of the Shinobi II or Shinobi 7" announced in June and includes their functionality such as camera control and touch-to-focus, plus wireless video transmission.

Camera Control
The camera control user interface on the 2,200 nit bright 7" display was developed with regard to frequently used settings that need to be adjusted with each shot. Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO can be adjusted via easily accessible sliders. For support, the usual auxiliary views such as histogram, waveform, EL Zone/ARRI false colors, or zebra can also be activated. White balance is also controlled via a slider. Focus peaking and zoom are of course also available. Camera recording can be started from the monitor image; a red border in the preview signals the recording status.
According to Atomos, the camera control via USB-C works with most current mirrorless or DSLR cameras from Canon, Panasonic, and Sony, as well as the compact cinema cameras of the E2 series from Z CAM. There are plans to support cameras from Fujifilm, Nikon, OM System, and SIGMA with future firmware updates.

Its interfaces include HDMI 2.0 and 3G-SDI inputs and outputs. Up to 4Kp60 is supported via HDMI, and up to 2Kp60 via 3G-SDI. The Shinobi 7 RX also supports bidirectional cross-conversion of SDI and HDMI. The two NPF battery slots allow the Shinobi to be continuously powered via hot-swap.
Monitoring via Wireless Video Link
The biggest innovation of the Shinobi 7 RX is the ability to display live video from the camera via WLAN from the TX component of the Atomos TX-RX Wireless Video System introduced at the beginning of the year. The Atomos TX transmitter delivers low-latency (<60ms) HD-SDI and 4K-HDMI video transmission for wireless monitoring on set over distances of up to 300 meters. Film crews are thus given the opportunity to always keep the current image on the director&s or client monitors during the moving shoot.
