Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 19.1 with over 100 improvements and new features

After several smaller updates, Blackmagic today released a major new version, Resolve 19.1, with numerous new features for its free grading, editing, compositing, and audio mastering program for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Windows for ARM. Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve (Studio) 19.1 brings numerous new features and improvements that optimize the workflow in various sections as well as the overall program.

The Media Library now has the capability for automatic folder synchronization with directories, and with the multi-export of timelines, multiple selected timelines from the media pool can now be exported simultaneously, significantly speeding up the export process. Audio transcoding in media management now uses 24-bit by default for higher quality, and smart folders and filters allow users to filter media specifically from certain folders, making it easier to find specific content.

The Edit page receives new Fusion titles and effects, an enhanced marker search for better marker searches through support for all marker fields, as well as expanded audio functions with better access to EQ, dynamics, and plugins, support for multiple audio channels, and additional options for audio ducking.

In the Color module, there are new selection tools for gallery node stacks and dedicated mini-panel controls for editing custom curve points, as well as improved object mask caches. Using track node changes by color, timeline clips can be filtered by node color, simplifying navigation and editing. The Fusion updates include support for USD 24, USD scene export from compositions, and polygon and B-spline controls in the viewer toolbar. Additionally, the update improves audio track management and visibility of trimmed clips in the Fairlight module and adds support for new Dolby formats.

Track Node Changes Using Color

On the Export page, it is now possible to reorder render jobs via drag & drop in the render queue, and encoding support has been expanded to include MV HEVC spatial video on Mac, Sony MXF Op1A to XDCAM drives on Mac and Windows, as well as H.265 Main10 formats, and AV1 encoding with Nvidia graphics cards has been accelerated.

In Resolve FX, new controls for grain in sky replacement have been introduced, enabling more realistic and customizable sky effects. Additionally, there are new saturation and gamma controls for light rays and the ability to set different per-channel settings for blur effects. General improvements include dual-screen layouts, where windows can now be resized on the secondary screen, and specific menu actions can be searched through the help menu on Windows and Linux.
