Blackmagic delivers PYXIS 12K - Compact cine camera with 12K full-frame sensor

Blackmagic Design has begun mass production and delivery of the PYXIS 12K, which was presented in April at NAB 2024. At the same time, the new (version 9.0.1 of Blackmagic&s Camera Setup Tool) was released, which now supports the PYXIS 12K and improves the PYXIS Monitor&s ability to handle vertical video.

Blackmagic PYXIS 12K

The Blackmagic PYXIS 12K uses the same full-frame sensor with 12,288 x 8,040 photosites as the URSA Cine 12K LF, and thus offers the same dynamic range of 16 stops. It supports various recording formats and frame rates:

Ausstattung

For the required data rates, the PYXIS 12K comes with two CFexpress card slots, 10G Ethernet and Blackmagic Cloud Global Sync. There is also a USB-C expansion port for direct recording to external flash drives or SSDs. In addition to the original camera data, all Blackmagic PYXIS models record an HD proxy file in H.264, which is uploaded to the Blackmagic Cloud before the originals and is immediately available to other editors for editing.

The PYXIS 12K, which weighs only 1.59 kg, has various audio, monitoring, power and other connections such as 12G-SDI up to 2160p/60, viewfinder USB-C port, analog mini-XLR audio socket, 3.5 mm stereo input, 3.5 mm headphone socket, reference inputs (Tri-Sync, Black Burst, Timecode), USB-C for recording to external hard drives, PTP camera control and software updates, and 1 x 10 Gbit/s RJ45 Ethernet.

Blackmagic PYXIS 12K

As with all PYXIS models, there is an integrated 4-inch HDR LCD (with 1500 nits) and support for the 5" HDR PYXIS monitor with touchscreen. The URSA Cine EVF can also be used on the camera.

The Blackmagic PYXIS 12K is now shipping in versions with L, EF or PL mount.
