DJI has just released the latest generation of its compact wireless microphone system, the Mic Mini – the Mic Mini 2. The biggest changes concern the appearance—there are now various interchangeable colored housings—as well as improved charging times and sound presets. Overall, the upgrade is rather minor, but DJI is already teasing a new model that could be even more interesting than the newly introduced Mic Mini 2. ![]() DJI Mic Mini 2 What&s new?The most striking innovation is purely visual. The transmitters of the new Mic Mini 2 are now equipped with magnetic front covers that can be swapped in seconds. The two-transmitter set includes Obsidian Black and Gloss White; eight additional colors—including vibrant oranges, blues, and greens—are available separately. This allows the microphone to be color-matched to outfits or production concepts, which is a real value-add, especially when the microphone is visibly placed on clothing. ![]() DJI Mic Mini 2 - optional color covers While this is nice, it remains far behind the possibilities of the Mic Pro teased by Insta360 at NAB 2026 www.slashcam.de/news/single/Insta360-Mic-Pro---Funkmikro-mit-farbigem-E-Ink-Di-19951.html, which can be given any look in seconds using a color E-Ink display—and without having to prominently display the manufacturer&s name on the microphone every time it is used. ![]() Insta Mic Pro with color E-Ink display Also new are three selectable sound presets, which were adopted from the more professional ![]() DJI Mic Mini 2 transmitter with receiver on camera On the technical side, DJI has reduced the transmitter&s charging time by about 22 percent—the wireless microphone is now fully charged in about 70 minutes, 20 minutes faster than the previous model. In addition, the DJI Mic Mini 2 receiver now supports mixed connections: those who still own transmitters from the first Mic Mini can use them together with Mic Mini 2 transmitters on the same receiver. This backward compatibility is practical if you still have old Mic Mini transmitters and want to use them alongside the new ones. ![]() DJI Mic Mini 2 control via app What has remained unchangedAudio quality, range, battery life, and form factor are identical to the predecessor. The transmitters continue to deliver 48 kHz/24-bit audio, reach up to 400 meters range with the standard receiver (300 m with the mobile receiver), and last for 11.5 hours. With the charging case, the system achieves a total runtime of up to 48 hours—just like the Mic Mini. The two-stage noise cancellation, 5-stage gain adjustment, automatic gain control, safety track, and OsmoAudio direct connection for Osmo Pocket 4, Osmo Action 6, and other devices have also been adopted unchanged. Only the weight has increased minimally: from 10 to 11 grams per transmitter. ![]() DJI Mic Mini 2 with Osmo Pocket Is an upgrade from the Mic Mini worth it?Anyone who already owns a DJI Mic Mini does not need to buy the Mic Mini 2. The sound differences are marginal—reviews confirm that the sound presets are so subtle in practice that they hardly serve as a compelling reason to buy. The faster charging time is pleasant, but also not a mandatory reason to switch. However, for those entering the slashCam wireless microphone world for the first time or looking for an additional transmitter, but who do not need the professional features of the significantly more expensive Mic 3—such as internal storage, 32-bit float recording, timecode synchronization, support for four microphones on one receiver, dual-band wireless, adaptive gain control, and a lavalier input for external microphones—the Mic Mini 2 is a good choice. ![]() Mic Mini 2S Teaser The Mic Mini 2S is coming soonHowever, anyone considering purchasing the Mic Mini 2 should know that DJI has already announced a new and better model for the summer of 2026 with the ![]() DJI Mic Mini 2 mobile receiver Prices and availabilityDJI offers the Mic Mini 2 starting at 59 euros for a set consisting of one transmitter and one receiver; the complete set with two transmitters, a mobile receiver, and a charging case costs 79 euros, and 114 euros with a standard receiver instead of the mobile one. deutsche Version dieser Seite: DJI Mic Mini 2 - Farbiges Upgrade, doch das bessere Mic Mini 2S kommt schon bald |
