DJI teases the introduction of a new gimbal with the slogan "Light and Smarter than Ever? A closer look at the teaser image reveals the back of a Nikon Z6 or Z7, suggesting that the upcoming DJI gimbal is aimed primarily at the current generation of mirrorless full-format DSLRs. ;)
A lighter gimbal for mirrorless system cameras would fit well into the current DJI portfolio. We had tested the  DJI Ronin-S together with the Canon EOS C200 and with the GH5S at slashCAM. We were especially impressed by the high load capacity even for heavier camera setups: But if you only use relatively light mirrorless system cameras like GH5, A7III, Z6 etc. - for that the Ronin S with its max. 3.6kg load is overkill - especially since the competition offers much lighter gimbals. And also the topic "Smart" still has potential for the future: Starting with a more intelligent interaction of camera AF/tracking systems and gimbal movements, via even better movement corrections with vertical movement, stronger integration of high-quality, external recording and monitoring options and much more ...
