At its NAB preview, Blackmagic Design introduced an interesting new application in its first beta version: “Fairlight Live” is a software-based digital mixer that will also be available completely free of charge for Mac and Windows until further notice. ![]() Fairlight Live Anyone already familiar with Fairlight in Resolve will likely find much of the new app familiar. Basically, as a standalone version, it isn’t as memory-intensive as the full-fledged Resolve, and Blackmagic lists the minimum memory requirement as “only” 8GB on both operating systems. However, the current download is already a 2GB file (which grows to 3.8GB after extraction), which we consider quite substantial for a digital mixer. After all, the real USP of a digital mixing app is its minimalist design, which uses a small, efficient kernel to mix as many tracks as possible with the lowest possible latency. Like many digital mixers, Fairlight Live can be customized. You can add inputs and buses or change their configuration at any time. To mute, unmute, or rearrange inputs and buses, you manage audio channels in a track index. Weitere Bilder zur Newsmeldung:
