Good News for Portrait Photographers: Sigma Corporation officially announced the development of the "Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG | Art" at CP+ in Japan. A prototype was first shown from February 26th to March 1st, 2026, at the Sigma booth at CP+ 2026.

The Sigma 85mm f/1.2 DG Art is scheduled to be available for E-mount and L-mount starting in September 2026.
The final model is set to hit the market this fall, specifically in September 2026, for Sony's E-mount and the L-mount system. A price has not yet been announced—but the big elephant has been removed: With the introduction of the 85mm, Sigma's Art series of f/1.2 prime lenses will be complete. Sigma also stated that no further models with this aperture are planned.
This prime lens family will thus consist of three lenses by the end of the year: the Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art, the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art, and the upcoming Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG | Art.
The manufacturer emphasizes that in the construction of the third model, they naturally continue to focus on a compact and lightweight design—despite the enormous light gathering capability. Furthermore, Sigma also promises outstanding resolution right from the widest aperture, as well as autofocus using their proprietary Dual HLA system.
Since both siblings cost around 1,500 Euros, the third in the group is likely to be positioned in this price range as well.
