The free firmware update for GoPro's Karma drone (which is now available in a bundle with the new
GoPro Hero 6 Black Camera brings four new flight and recording modes - including finally an automatic "Follow Me" mode, in which the drone follows the user and films him in motion. This doesn't work via object recognition, but via the GPS signal of the Karma Controller - the user has to hold the controller in his hand (or body) to let the drone follow him in this mode and film him.
This means that the follow-up mode is unfortunately not as intelligent and universal as with other drones such as the DJI models Spark/Mavic Pro/Phantom 4/Inspire 2 (per "Active Track") or the Yuneec quadcopters Typhoon H and Breeze. With these models, sensor data and deep learning algorithms can be used to follow any object with a simple click in the app.

The other flight modes are "Watch","CableCam" and "Look Up Tilt"mode. In "Watch " mode, the drone remains stationary at one point, but the camera turns to the user; in "Cable Cam " mode, a flight path of up to 10 waypoints can be defined, which is then flown away and in "Lok Up Tilt" mode, the camera can pan upwards over the horizon, which is not possible with many quadcopters, since the rotors would come into the picture there because of the position of the camera - with the Karma The firmware update for the GoPro Karma drone is now available for all owners of a GoPro Karma drone with the Kamra controller
