Free Digital Mixer: Blackmagic Releases Fairlight Live 1 Beta 2 with New Features

Blackmagic has just released the second beta and a user manual for its free software-based digital mixer, Fairlight Live for Windows and Mac, which was introduced at NAB 2026. The new version improves the patching matrix with support for horizontal and diagonal drag-and-drop patching, multi-channel patching via a single connection, and the handling of large audio setups.

Improvements have also been made to speaker selection and the reliability of new shows, as well as to the undo command, plugin organization, and ATEM audio patching. The updated manual is now available via the "Help" menu. The new

What is Fairlight Live?

Fairlight Live allows for the mixing of hundreds to thousands of input channels with integrated EQ, dynamics, and panning per channel. It supports VST/AU plugins and offers broadcast features such as talkback, n-1 buses, cue players, and a virtual soundcheck. Additionally, SMPTE-2110 integration for IP-based productions is included, and the app integrates well with ATEM switchers.
