At NAB 2026, SanDisk introduced both an entirely new series and new models for two existing memory card lines designed for professional video workflows: the new Extreme PRO CFexpress 4.0 Type B, as well as SDXC UHS-II V60 and V90 cards with 2 TB capacities. SanDisk CFexpress 4.0 Type B: Double the speed, more storageThe flagship series among the new releases is the Extreme PRO CFexpress 4.0 Type B, which utilizes a PCIe Gen 4 x2 interface to achieve sequential read speeds of up to 3,700 MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,500 MB/s. This is approximately twice as fast as the previous CFexpress 2.0 generation, which reached roughly 1,700/1,400 MB/s (CFexpress 3.0 was skipped). The new series is designed for consistent sustained performance and is aimed at high-end productions with high bitrates, including 12K video. ![]() SanDisk Extreme PRO CFexpress 4.0 Type B Capacities for the new line range from 128 GB to 4 TB, with sustained performance varying significantly by capacity class—an important point for cinematographers who rely on specific VPG requirements during recording. The smaller 128 GB and 400 GB models achieve a sustained write rate of up to 900 MB/s and are VPG400 and VPG800 certified, respectively. The 1 TB variant increases sustained performance to up to 1,950 MB/s and already meets VPG1600 requirements. The large 2 TB and 4 TB models fully exploit the potential of the new CFexpress 4.0 generation with up to 3,100 MB/s sustained write—they are also VPG1600 certified. The smaller models are not an option for many high-end cinema cameras with strict VPG requirements; those needing VPG1600 must opt for at least the 1 TB version. However, VPG400/VPG800 are sufficient for common 4K RAW workflows. Also new is the SmartIdle feature, which reduces power consumption when idle, thereby limiting heat generation within the camera. For field use, the card is protected against drops from heights of up to 5 meters and bending forces of up to 70 N. ![]() SanDisk Extreme PRO CFexpress 4.0 Type B The new CFexpress 4.0 Type B cards are scheduled to be available starting in June 2026. So far, only US prices are known, starting at for the small 128 GB model, for 1 TB, 1,199 for 2 TB, and up to 1,799 for the 4 TB version. SanDisk PRO SDXC UHS-II V90 and V60: SD format gets 2 TBThe two existing Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II card series in the V60 and V90 classes have each been expanded with a 2 TB model. The SanDisk PRO SDXC UHS-II V90 achieves up to 310 MB/s read and 305 MB/s write speeds (applicable to 512 GB to 2 TB) and is designed for 8K/30p recording—according to SanDisk, a 2 TB card can store over 1,100 minutes of 8K footage at 30 fps. SanDisk PRO SDXC UHS-II V90 The SanDisk PRO SDXC UHS-II V60 series offers up to 300 MB/s read and 250 MB/s write speeds and is aimed at 6K workflows and ambitious photo/video hybrid users. The 2 TB SanDisk PRO SDXC UHS-II V60 costs 1,799 and is expected to be available in June; the faster SanDisk PRO SDXC UHS-II V90 2 TB model is priced at 2,656.99 euros and is available on the market immediately. deutsche Version dieser Seite: Neue SanDisk Extreme PRO CFexpress 4.0 Type B Karten bis 4 TB und doppelt so schnell |
