The QooCam 3 Ultra, a new 8K-capable 360° camera that was already on display at CES, will soon be available. While it retains the form factor of the QooCam 3, its specifications are reminiscent of the
QooCam 8K, which was released in 2019. Like the latter, it has two larger 1/1.7-inch sensors and films in 8K/30fps, 5.7K/60fps or 4K/120fps.

However, the sensors of the QooCam 3 Ultra are said to be newer - according to Kandao, they are quad-bayer sensors, in which 4 pixels are merged into one for better light yield and image quality (a popular approach for smartphone cameras, for example); however, the sensor resolution is not mentioned. The camera also supports 10bit video recording (10bit BT.2020 / HLG); the video bit rate is 150Mbps and therefore lower than that of the older QooCam 8K. The two fisheye lenses, which together capture the 360° coverage for panoramas, again have an F1.6 aperture as on the QooCam 3 (without Ultra) and, like there, are slightly offset to the side. The small touchscreen measures 2.19 inches.
The QooCam 3 Ultra (like the QooCam 8K) offers a live streaming function that enables easy transmission of immersive 360° footage in real time, with in-camera stitching during live streaming.
The camera is also capable of capturing 360-degree photos at up to 96 MP with in-camera stitching and long exposure (no post-processing required), DNG8 and Raw+ are also supported.
Four built-in microphones capture sound and a six-axis gyroscope is used for stabilization. There is 128GB of integrated memory, which can be expanded using a MicroSD card. The 360° camera is waterproof to IP68 (up to a depth of 10 meters).
Kandao QooCam 3 Ultra will be available from August 10 for 669 euros, until then it will be offered at a reduced price of 573 euros for pre-orders.
