SmallRig has added a new "universal" cooling system to its range, which can be used with select Sony and Canon cameras to prevent recording times from being limited by overheating. As before, it is slid onto the back of the camera when the display is flipped out to cool the body and is available in two versions.

The hybrid model, Hybrid Cooling 5328, features a high-speed 7000 RPM fan as well as an additional TEC cooling module for rapid camera cooling, while the base model is equipped only with the fan. The latter offers two power levels; at 4500 RPM, it is designed to operate quietly, while running at 7000 RPM provides more efficient cooling but is also louder. In addition to high and low modes, the hybrid model also offers an auto mode.

These new fan modules now provide their own power in the form of a built-in battery, which is designed to allow for up to approx. 70 minutes (Hybrid 5328) / 180 minutes (Base 5329) of maximum performance. It can also be charged via an external power bank or similar while the cooler is in operation. Multiple protection mechanisms, such as those against overvoltage, overheating, or fan issues, are intended to ensure safe usage.
The coolers weigh 130g and 102g respectively and are compatible with the following camera models:
- Sony: FX3, FX30, α7 IV, α7S III, α7C II, α7CR, α7C, α6700, ZV-E1, ZV-E10, ZV-E10 II, ZV-1, ZV-1F
- Canon: EOS R5, EOS R5 Mark II, EOS R6 Mark III, EOS R7
The new SmallRig cooling fans for mirrorless cameras cost 68.90 euros (hybrid model incl. TEC cooling module) and 47.90 euros (base model) respectively.
