Cadrage, known for its popular viewfinder app, has released Cadrage Studio, a new app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that offers essential professional pre-production features—such as shot lists, floor plans, mood boards, location scouting, and script management—within a unified workspace. The Cadrage Studio app has already spent about a year in closed beta, during which it was used on several feature film and commercial productions. ![]() Cadrage Studio App Linked planning documents instead of folder chaosThe core promise of Cadrage Studio is the synchronicity between individual elements. When a script is imported, the app automatically detects scenes and characters, assigning shot lists, floor plans, mood boards, and locations to their respective scenes. If a new script version is uploaded, the planning documents are designed to stay automatically synchronized—deleted scenes are archived rather than erased, ensuring no work is lost. In the floor plans, cameras, actors, lighting, and set elements can be placed to scale; floor plans can either be created manually or generated from 3D scans. For locations, the app utilizes LiDAR room scans on supported iPhone and iPad models; alternatively, USDZ files from third-party apps can be imported, supplemented by reference photos and notes for each filming location. Shot lists are fully customizable and can be linked to the corresponding floor plan for each scene. Mood boards consolidate images, videos, GIFs, and links, and can be exported to ensure a consistent visual language between the crew, agency, and client. ![]() Cadrage Studio App Sync, collaboration, and data privacyProjects synchronize via iCloud between macOS and iOS devices and can be shared with team members; alternatively, the app works completely offline. Regarding data privacy, Cadrage relies on a model that is likely to be a major selling point for NDA-heavy productions: project data resides exclusively on the users& devices and in their private iCloud account, not on Cadrage GmbH servers. According to the manufacturer, user data is also not used for AI training—a contrast to web-based pre-production tools, where project data is typically stored on third-party servers. ![]() Cadrage Studio App - Shotlist and Moodboard AssessmentThose already working with separate tools for shot lists, storyboards, location scouting, and mood boards are likely to benefit from this centralized approach—provided that the automatic scene detection during script revisions works reliably enough in practice to actually save time. This is difficult to judge from a distance; it remains to be seen how robust the synchronization is for complex, heavily revised scripts. The offline capability and the data privacy approach are genuine arguments in favor of this tool over cloud-based alternatives for professional productions with strict requirements. ![]() Cadrage Studio App - Floorplan Price and availabilityCadrage Studio is available now in the deutsche Version dieser Seite: Cadrage Studio App - komplette Preproduction-Suite mit verknüpften Funktionen |
