Vegas Pro 18 is a new release that includes Sound Forge Pro for comprehensive audio editing. Tightly integrated with Vegas Pro, it takes audio files directly from the Vegas Pro timeline and sends them back there after editing, including changes.
The software is more flexible in color grading. The color correction panel can be placed where it makes the most sense in your own workflow. The user interface has been redesigned in this area. The Vectorscope has a new skin tone line, a new autocontrast function has been added, and there is a new (logarithmic) tool for exposure control that is based on a camera. For HDR processing, there is a new automatic selection of IDTs (Input Device Transform) based on metadata.
The Motion Tracking panel has also been revised. Motion tracking information can now be easily passed to specific plug-ins that can process position parameters.
For hardware management, Vegas Pro supports users on request and automatically configures the ideal GPU settings. The software also checks that the graphics card drivers are up to date.
AI-based effects are introduced using Intel OpenVINO technology. With "Style Transfer", visual styles of famous artists can be applied to the video material, and with "Colorize" black and white shots can be colorized afterwards. Also new is support for Open FX plug-ins, and the Flicker Reducer, Denoise and Black Bar Fill Filter plug-ins are also included.
Now only announced as a major expansion is a new collaboration environment, which will be introduced in the fall, so that teams can share cloud assets more easily. At the heart of the new environment will be the Vegas Hub, which is based on the Microsoft Azure Platform and will provide secure, centralized access to and exchange of files. Vegas Prepare will be released as an additional tool for this purpose, which will be linked in as a media management system. It will be possible to organize film material in libraries including searchable and filterable tags. Also over a hub explorer window in Vegas Pro one has direct access to these media collections. To import videos and photos from mobile devices into the hub environment, Vegas Transfer appears as an iOS / Android app.
Vegas Pro 18 is available as a purchase version for 599 Euro or as a subscription from 19.99 Euro per month.
