Deity has presented a truly universal tool with the new Deity BP-TRX camera radio system, because it combines numerous functions under one hood for little money (around 250 dollars): in addition to the audio transmission by radio as a transmitter or receiver, it also offers the possibility to record audio and time code directly, to generate time code only, to transmit and record audio simultaneously, to function as an IEM (In Ear Monitor), as a Camera Hop or in Master TX Mode as a transmitter for several receivers.
The new device from Deitys Connect System has a 1.3" OLED display and several keys for operation. In addition, the Deity BP-TRX has a variable LowCut filter (20 Hz to 200Hz), a frequency hopping method for interference-free radio transmission, encrypted transmission, various options for transmission power (10, 25, 50, or 100mW) and can be used as an audio interface for a computer or smartphone via USB-C.
Its interfaces include a USB-C output, a stereo 3.5mm input and a headphone output for monitoring. Audio is recorded on up to 128 GB microSD cards in the form of 24bit/48 KHz uncompressed BWF WAV files. A Deity BP-TRX can also be configured as a Master Transmitter, allowing audio to be transmitted to up to four Deity BP-TRX (in receive or IEM mode).
Deity BP-TRX in Master TX Mode
In the timecode generator mode, the receiving and transmitting unit is switched off to achieve a longer operating time of over 25 hours. The accuracy of the time code generator corresponds to a deviation of frame per 24 hours. Supported frame rates are 23.976ND, 24ND, 25ND, 29.97ND, 29.97D, 30ND and 30D and the TC output via 3.5mm output.
The battery is permanently installed and provides power for 21 hours of operation in audio recording mode or 12 hours in transmit/receive mode - the internal logic should be able to estimate when the power is running low, so it can save sound files in time and shut down the device to prevent data loss due to sudden power failure. The internal battery is charged via USB-C.
The Deity BP-TRX should be on the market from June 2020 at a price of around 250 dollars.
