New EIZO for video professionals: EIZO ColorEdge CS3200X - 31.5

EIZO is expanding its ColorEdge CS series with the CS3200X, a 31.5" monitor with UltraHD resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels) in a 16:9 format. It is the largest model in the CS series to date, offering significantly more desktop space than the previous 27" maximum models in the CS range.

The CS3200X&s IPS panel with wide-gamut LED backlighting features a 10-bit color depth and covers 99% of the Adobe RGB color space and 96% of DCI-P3. The typical brightness is 350 cd/m², the contrast ratio is 1300:1, and the response time is 14 ms (gray-to-gray). The refresh rate is variable, covering the range from 23 to 61 Hz, which suggests native support for 23.976p/24p/25p.

For the CS3200X, EIZO utilizes its proprietary Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE) technology, which is designed to ensure brightness and color uniformity across the entire panel surface. Each unit comes with an individual factory report documenting uniformity, gamma, color space coverage, and color temperature.

Features of the CG series

Interestingly, the ColorEdge CS3200X adopts—for the first time in the CS series—several features relevant to professional video editing that were previously reserved for the more expensive CG series. These include pre-calibrated presets for Rec. 709, DCI-P3, PQ_DCI-P3, and HLG_BT.2100, as well as HDR targets for HLG and PQ gamma, and a sync signal mode that automatically adjusts brightness, gamma, and color space based on video metadata.

Also on board is a special Display-P3 preset, which guarantees consistent image reproduction when combined with Apple devices such as a MacBook by matching the display on the CS3200X to that of the respective integrated Apple display. Calibration is performed via hardware using the included ColorNavigator 7 software—unlike the CG series models, a dedicated color calibration sensor is not integrated, but is available as an optional accessory.

Interfaces

The CS3200X offers a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode, a DisplayPort (HDCP 2.3), and an HDMI input. For the USB hub, two USB-A ports with USB 5 Gbps and two additional USB 2.0 ports are available, along with a USB-B upstream port. A KVM switch is integrated. The scope of delivery includes a USB-C and an HDMI cable (2 m each); a DisplayPort cable is not included. Notebooks connected via USB-C can be charged with up to 70 W.

The housing of the CS3200X features a three-sided frameless design with ultra-narrow display bezels, which EIZO has adopted from the FlexScan series to facilitate use in multi-monitor setups. For the first time in a CS model, a monitor hood is also included to minimize distracting light reflections. The CS3200X stand allows for a height adjustment of 141.8 mm, a tilt of 35° up and 5° down, and a swivel range of 344°. Typical power consumption is 25 W, with a maximum of 166 W.

Price and availability

The price of the CS3200X has not yet been determined, but the market launch is announced for autumn 2025. Within the EIZO lineup, the CS3200X is positioned below the
