As part of the X Summit, Fuji today unveiled a new camera in the X-T series, namely the FUJIFILM X-T5. It has the same high resolution 40 megapixel sensor as the X-H2 (X-Trans CMOS 5 HR) and the same "X-Processor 5" signal processor as the two X-H2/ X-H2s models. Technically, it is therefore very similar to the X-H2.

In contrast to the latter, however, the X-T5 returns somewhat to the origins of the XT series, which is FUJI&s most popular product line. Its credo is a good balance of weight, size and performance for a broad group of users at attractive prices. Or in short: a mainstream model that is as universal as possible with the latest FUJI technology.
After the models of the X-T series have grown slightly with each version in the past, the X-T5 shrinks for the first time and is now almost back at X-T1 level.... In terms of weight, too, it went back below the X-T4&s figures (557 instead of 607 grams) despite the larger battery.

For video users, the functions have unfortunately been further slimmed down compared to the X-H2, which is particularly evident in the recording formats. Instead of 8K, the X-T5 can record at a maximum of 6.2K up to 30p and in 4K up to 60p. High quality codec options up to 10-bit 4:2:2 are available, but there is no internal ProRes recording as with the X-H2 models. F-Log is also on board.
Recording is done on two UHS-II SD slots, an external video output is available (also in RAW). However, the HDMI output as TypeD is not particularly large.

A USB-C adapter (included) must also be used for the headphone connection, which is another possible source of error in hectic practical use and blocks the USB-C port for other tasks.
On the other hand, the display is even a tad higher-resolution than its big sisters (1.84M pixels vs. 1.62M) and can be folded out over three axes. The digital viewfinder, on the other hand, is only in the second family league in terms of resolution (3.69M pixels vs. 5.76M pixels).

The list price of the X-T5 is 1,999 euros, plus there are kits with XF18-55mmF2.8-4 for 2,399 euros, and XF16-80mmF4 for 2,499 euros. Comparing this with the list prices for the X-H2s (2,699 Euros) and the X-H2 (2,249 Euros), it is clear that the X-H2 series continues to offer the more interesting price-performance ratio for users with film ambitions. The new X-T5, on the other hand, is primarily interesting for photographers who only secondarily want to use the film functions and are primarily looking for a particularly compact and lightweight FUJI body.
