New features explained: Blackmagic releases New Features Guide for DaVinci Resolve 21

As always, Blackmagic has released a New Features Guide for the recently launched major new version 21 of its free grading, editing, compositing, audio mastering, and now also photo editing software, DaVinci Resolve for Mac, Linux, and Windows. The guide introduces the many new features in detail and explains how to use them.

The guide serves as a preliminary manual until a new version of the DaVinci Resolve 21 reference manual is released in the near future (it is currently still at version 20.3).

The English-language guide spans around 150 pages and covers everything from the new Photo page (read more from us

here) to the numerous new AI tools such as IntelliSearch, Speech Generator, and CineFocus, as well as updates across all individual sections including the Cut, Edit, Media, Color, Fairlight, and Fusion pages, along with Resolve FX, immersive features, and general improvements (such as the new background rendering).

However, just as they did when introducing the new features, Blackmagic unfortunately fails to clearly distinguish between the Studio and free versions of DaVinci Resolve in the guide, and does not mark which features (such as the AI tools, immersive features, etc.) are exclusive—funnily enough, "Studio" is not mentioned a single time in the guide.
