DJI has officially unveiled the Osmo Pocket 4 as the[rumors suggested](www.slashcam.de/news/single/DJI-Osmo-Pocket-4-kommt-noch-im-April---interner-S-19899.html), it is more of an evolutionary development of the Pocket 3 rather than a major leap. That seems to be reserved for the new Osmo Pocket 4 Pro model, but more on that below. The improvements and minor new features concern the internal storage (included for the first time), the sensor, slow-motion recording, zoom, photo resolution, and operation. The information from the leaks has been largely confirmed, albeit with one important upward correction: the maximum slow-motion frame rate is not 4K/120fps, but 4K/240fps which enables 10x slow motion at 24p playback (the Pocket 3 only offered 4K/120fps or 1080p/240fps).
 DJI Osmo Pocket 4 New SensorAlthough the sensor is still 1" in size, it has been improved and now delivers 14 stops of dynamic range (according to tests, the Pocket 3 only had 13 stops; DJI never published official values). The new sensor also improves photo capture, which now has a resolution of around 37 megapixels (16:9: 7,680 x 4,320 - 1:1, 6,144 x 6,144) instead of the previous 9.4 MP (16:9, 3,840 x 2,160 - 1:1, 3,072 x 3,072). Additionally, the ISO range has been expanded to 5012,800 (Pocket 3: 506,400). The Pocket 4 now also uses full-fledged professional 10-bit D-Log instead of the lighter D-Log M of the Pocket 3, which now offers maximum latitude in color grading. The maximum bit rate increases from 130 to 180 Mbps, which should be very beneficial for video quality however, H.264 recording has been dropped; the Pocket 4 now records exclusively in HEVC/H.265. The integrated 2" swiveling display has also been improved and is now 1,000 nits bright instead of 700 nits (the resolution, however, has remained the same).  DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Internal Storage for the First TimeThe most interesting upgrade is arguably the internal storage, which was previously non-existent, meaning one was entirely dependent on microSD cards and could not record without one. It is now well-sized at 107 GB and can be read at up to 800 MB/s via USB 3.1. Furthermore, the Wi-Fi has been upgraded to the latest generation, Wi-Fi 6. Improved ZoomThere is also a noticeable upgrade to the zoom: the Pocket 4 now features not only a 2x lossless digital zoom but also a new dedicated zoom button for direct control in addition to a freely assignable custom button. In video mode, slow shutter speeds down to 1/4 second are now possible, which allows for interesting long-exposure effects with the mechanical gimbal.  DJI Osmo Pocket 4 as an automatic camera Improved TrackingThe Pocket 4 now uses DJI&s current visual tracking system, ActiveTrack 7.0, which, according to tests, is significantly better than the previous version and can now track subjects even more reliably, even at full zoom. This makes the Pocket 4 even more of an intelligent cameraman. Battery and RuntimeThe battery has grown to 1,545 mAh (Pocket 3: 1,300 mAh), with a runtime of up to 240 minutes at 1080p/24fps (Pocket 3: 166 min) 80% charge is reached in 18 minutes. In terms of form factor, the Pocket 4 remains practically identical to its predecessor: at 190.5 g and 144.2 × 44.4 × 33.5 mm, it is minimally larger and about 11 g heavier than the Pocket 3 (179 g, 139.7 × 42.2 × 33.5 mm). AudioIn the audio department, in addition to the 3 integrated microphones as with the Pocket 3 DJI relies on its proprietary OsmoAudio system, which can record 4-channel audio using DJI&s mic transmitters (Mic 2, Mic 3, Mic Mini), for example, for simultaneous recording of speech and ambient noise.  DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Creator Combo Price and AvailabilityThe Pocket 4 is available in two bundles: the Standard Combo costs 499 euros, and the Creator Combo with a wide-angle lens, DJI Mic 3, the new fill light, and a mini tripod costs 619 euros. [Table omitted for brevity, but follows the same structure] Outlook: Osmo Pocket 4 Pro (4P) on April 21st?The upgrades to the Pocket 4 are nice, but the truly exciting innovation is yet to come: In China, DJI has just teased the Pro version of the Osmo Pocket 4, already mentioned in rumors, and announced its release for April 21st (though it is unclear whether it will be available for pre-order worldwide on that date or only in China, as has been the case with some products previously). The price of the Osmo Pocket 4P is expected to be around 600650 euros.  DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro The Osmo Pocket 4 Pro (4P) will bring something truly new: a dual-camera system with a main camera featuring a 1" sensor and a second camera with a 3x optical zoom. Rumor has it that it will also use Hasselblad Color Science; while this is by no means certain, it would emphasize the "Pro" character of the new model.
