Nikon has just introduced its new entry-level full-frame DSLM Nikon Z5 with 24.3 MP CMOS sensor, which is remarkably complete as an entry into the mirrorless full-frame Z series. The new Nikon Z5 features the 5-axis sensor stabilization already known from its big sisters Z6 /Z7, a dual SD card slot, the hybrid AF with 273 measuring fields, the viewfinder with 3.69 million pixels and the Expeed 6 image processor of the Nikon Z6. ![]() Thus, the new Nikon Z5 is probably one of the most fully equipped full format DLSMs in the entry level segment. However, the new Z5 is aimed more at photographers than those interested in moving images.
So the new Nikon Z5 has a 4K video recording with max 30p - but this is realized with a quite heavy crop of 1.7x. An external 10 bit recording via HDMI is also not available with the Nikon Z5. For this purpose there are micro-in and headphone jacks available.
