SMPTE-2110 Future: Blackmagic - New 100G SMPTE-2110 Solutions for Live Production and Broadcast

In addition to the new[DaVinci Resolve 21](www.slashcam.de/news/single/DaVinci-Resolve-21-kommt-mit-Photobearbeitung------19920.html), Blackmagic Design has introduced a whole range of upgrades and expansions for its existing broadcast and live solutions, primarily focusing on the Ethernet-based SMPTE-2110 standard and 100G as the new hardware foundation. Alongside the new storage solutions[Cloud Store Ultra and Media Dock Ultra](www.slashcam.de/news/single/Blackmagic-Cloud-Store-Ultra-und-Media-Dock-Ultra--19924.html) and the[100G versions of the URSA Cine 12K LF and Immersive cameras](www.slashcam.de/news/single/Blackmagic-URSA-Cine-12K-LF-und-Immersive-mit-100G-19922.html), which we have already reported on, several devices were unveiled—ranging from network switches, signal converters, and ISO recorders to a native SMPTE-2110 production switcher and its control panel. All are announced for June 2026 and will be on display at NAB. These include:

ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP – Native SMPTE-2110 Switcher


The[ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP](www.blackmagicdesign.com/de/products/atemconstellationip) is a fully SMPTE-2110 native live production switcher, available in two versions with 32 or 64 inputs. The new models retain the familiar features of previous SDI-based ATEM Constellation switchers, allowing for a seamless transition between SMPTE-2110 and SDI systems.

The standard model costs 8,509 euros and offers 32 SMPTE-2022-7 inputs via four dual-redundant 100G Ethernet connections, as well as 24 SMPTE-2110 outputs, 16 advanced keys, 4 multi-views, and 2 SuperSource processors for a total of 12 DVEs. The 13,815-euro "Plus" variant doubles this to 64 inputs via eight 100G connection pairs and 48 outputs. Particularly interesting is the cable reduction made possible by Ethernet: four 100G cables replace up to 60 BNC connections of a comparable SDI switcher.

HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G – 8-Channel SMPTE-2110 IP Video Recorder with 100G


The[HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G](www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/hyperdeckisorecorder100g) is a new 5,149-euro SMPTE-2110 IP video recorder in a 2U format with 100G Ethernet, which allows for the recording of up to eight channels of 10-bit 4:2:2 video in resolutions up to DCI 4K/60p via Ethernet. The recordings can be edited later or used as live replays in DaVinci Resolve.

The device uses a single 100G Ethernet connection for all eight video channels and records Apple ProRes directly to network storage. Two separate 100G ports ensure redundancy according to SMPTE 2022-7, with two identical copies of the video and audio signal sent over both connections—the switch occurs seamlessly without frame loss or audio interruptions.

Blackmagic SDI Expander 8x12G – From SDI to IP and back


For those looking to integrate existing SDI infrastructure into modern 100G SMPTE-2110 systems, Blackmagic Design presents the 3,205-euro SDI Expander 8x12G. It converts simultaneously in both directions: eight independent 12G-SDI channels to SMPTE-2110 and, in parallel, eight separate SMPTE-2110 channels back to 12G-SDI—a total of 16 conversion channels. Two 100G Ethernet ports ensure full SMPTE-2022-7 redundancy, while a separate NMOS control port and dual power supplies round out the broadcast profile.

The SDI connections support SD, HD, and Ultra HD, and a front-panel LCD allows for monitoring of inputs and outputs. Speakers and a headphone output on the front also allow for local audio monitoring. According to Blackmagic, the device is ideal as a breakout box for existing switchers.

Blackmagic StudioBridge 10G PWR – Eight Studio Cameras, one 100G connection, with power


The 2,665-euro StudioBridge 10G PWR bridges the gap between the cost-effective 10G Ethernet world and professional redundant 100G broadcast systems. The device connects eight separate 10G Ethernet SMPTE-2110 connections to modern redundant 100G SMPTE-2022-7 systems, allowing up to eight cameras or converters to be combined into a single 100G IP video system. Conveniently, the four internal power supplies provide each of the eight 10G Ethernet ports with up to 90W PoE++—enough to operate directly connected Blackmagic Studio Cameras without external power.

Blackmagic UpDownCross 100G – Eight-channel standards converter, fully IP-native


The 2,589-euro UpDownCross 100G is a multi-channel standards converter in a rack-unit format with native SMPTE-2110 connectivity via 100G Ethernet, converting up to eight channels of SD, HD, and Ultra HD simultaneously. It features redundant 100G Ethernet for SMPTE-2022-7 compliance and a dedicated NMOS control port.

Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 820 – The 100G hub for SMPTE-2110 installations


The 2,465-euro Ethernet Switch 820 is a managed switch for the new 100G IP broadcast infrastructure. It offers eight 100G and two 10G Ethernet ports, SMPTE-2110 routing via the front panel, redundant PTP clock connections, a separate NMOS control port, and a dedicated management port. With this, Blackmagic provides its own switch solution for the first time, combining all relevant broadcast requirements of a modern IP production environment under one roof.

ATEM Monitoring Rack Panel – Control panel and converter in one


The ATEM Monitoring Rack Panel solves a specific problem of the new ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP: its front-to-back cooling leaves no room for conventional front-panel controls. The monitoring panel offers the same controls as the regular ATEM Constellation SDI models but simultaneously functions as an independent monitoring converter and control panel combination with a dedicated Ethernet control port. It also converts SMPTE-2110 IP video to 12G-SDI and HDMI for local monitor connection.

The ATEM Monitoring comes in two versions: the 1U Rack Panel 20 for 1,069 euros offers 20 input buttons, 12G-SDI and HDMI outputs, two 10G Ethernet connections, SMPTE-2022-7 redundancy, and talkback audio functionality. The 2U Panel 40 for 1,699 euros doubles the size and, in addition to 40 input buttons, offers a larger LCD and an expanded control surface. The panels make the ATEM Constellation IP fully suitable for everyday use in classic broadcast control room environments.
