Qualcomm has announced an early update with some important improvements to the Snapdragon 670 that was released in August. The Snapdragon 675 SoC is set to become the heart of new mid-range smartphones/tablets and supports many potential new hardware options. Surprisingly, the Snapdragon 675 is the first new system equipped with the new Kryo 460 processor with a new microarchitecture, which will not be integrated into a new high-end SoC as usual. The speed gains (e.g. in web browsing and app start) compared to the previous version 670 should be in the range of 15-35%. Especially interesting are the new camera features: Qualcomm follows the trend of multiple cameras - the Snapdragon 675 uses the Spectra 250L image processor to support up to three cameras connected together on each side of the smartphone and can therefore switch continuously between telephoto, wide-angle and super-wide-angle to achieve a 5x optical zoom effect. An artificial bokeh effect can be calculated (depending on the hardware used) using three different methods: either depth estimation by dual cameras, active depth measurement by time-of-flight or by a camera with phase detection pixels. Bokeh and HDR are supported simultaneously in one (25 megapixel) photo. ![]() The Snapdragon 600 series offers new possibilities for slow motion photography with its first support of up to 480 fps at 720p resolution - 4K is recorded at up to 30fps. Further features are hybrid autofocus, Motion Compensated Temporal Filtering and a reduction of image noise with lowlight shots taking into account multiple images (which leads to a better image quality) including improved image stabilization. The Snapdragon 675 is to be used in smartphones and tablets as early as the first quarter of 2019. deutsche Version dieser Seite: Snapdragon 675 bringt Smartphones Bokeh und 720p mit 480 fps |
