Since its release in October 2025, the Nikon ZR has been one of the most exciting cameras on the market. Now, with ZineControl, a professional monitoring and remote control app for iOS is being developed (an Android version is in preparation), which offers numerous practical functions such as touch-to-focus, professional monitoring scopes, 3D LUT preview, and focus peaking (even in R3D RAW), as well as the ability to adjust camera parameters remotely—all via Wi-Fi. 
Video SourcesIn addition to transmitting the live preview via Wi-Fi, ZineControl supports two other possible video sources, which can be switched during operation without losing the camera status. The Wi-Fi preview is handled via plug-and-play using PTP/IP streaming—no additional hardware is required. The connection uses direct mapping of Nikon&s proprietary command protocol (PTP) for real-time control.  Nikon ZR As a second option, the preview can be taken directly from the camera&s HDMI output via UVC on the iPad, with the ability to record video in broadcast quality. Thirdly, with the help of  Accsoon&s SeeMo USB-C to HDMI adapter, video can be streamed via cable as H.264/H.265 to an iPhone or iPad. SeeMo, SeeMo 4K, and the SeeMo Pro with an additional SDI input for the iPad are supported.  Accsoon SeeMo Full Camera ControlZineControl offers comprehensive access to the following camera parameters: - Exposure: ISO, shutter speed/shutter angle, aperture, white balance (Kelvin) - Recording: Video mode, codec, HFR presets (24p to 120p) via one-tap, storage selection - Focus: Touch-to-focus in Live View with AF area overlay and real-time tracking - R3D Mode: ISO control is possible even in R3D RAW mode, including switching between Low and High Base ISO - Dual-Slot Monitoring: Capacity and status display for both memory card slots  ZineControl Control Professional MonitoringThe app offers professional monitoring tools such as histogram, waveform, RGB parade, zebras, false color, focus peaking, framing grids, audio level meters, mirror mode, and anamorphic desqueeze. Additionally, there is 3D LUT import with .cube files up to 64-cube in a 16-bit pipeline for real-time look preview. ZineControl also enables focus peaking while shooting in R3D RAW—a feature the camera itself does not currently offer.  ZineControl Monitoring Tools Designed for Set UseZineControl is clearly designed for professional multi-user operation. The app supports shared user roles on the same network: the focus puller gets the AF area, the DoP gets the scopes, and the director gets the clean image—all simultaneously. The interface is modular: scopes, controls, and feeds can be arranged individually via drag-and-drop. Settings and monitoring status are preserved between sessions. It is intended to offer the full range of functions of the iOS version—Wi-Fi connection and a direct camera connection via USB-C are planned. Planned FeaturesThe developers of ZineControl have announced further features: timecode sync, metadata embedding, and remote firmware updates are to follow through deeper SDK integration. Multi-camera support—i.e., the simultaneous control of several ZR bodies from a single device—is also planned, as well as proxy recording, so that H.264 can be recorded in parallel to RAW footage.  ZineControl Beta and PriceZineControl is currently available (www.zinecontrol.app) as an open beta for free, with early access for professional technical directors and rental houses. There is no information yet on the final price. For ZR users looking for professional monitoring and control functions on set, signing up for the beta is worth it—especially since some features exceed those of the camera itself. Nikon ZRNikon developed the Nikon ZR, released in October 2025, together with RED Digital Cinema after Nikon acquired RED the year before. The camera combines RED&s color science and RAW workflow with Nikon&s compact mirrorless design—offering 32-bit float audio, a 4" touchscreen with 1000 nits, and internal R3D RAW recording at an entry price of around 2,350 euros.
