The ultimate LED light? ARRI SkyPanel X - modular, hard, soft, all-wheather

ARRI launches the all-weather SkyPanel X LED projector. Its modular design allows it to be configured in different sizes and offers native-soft, native-hard and open light depending on the attachment used. The SkyPanel X's application areas range from film and television to fashion and beauty shoots, product photography and lifestyle scenarios.

SkyPanel X offers dimming options with flicker-free operation from 100 to zero percent for direct close-up illumination. With a dynamic CCT range of 1,500 to 20,000 K, the luminaire can perfectly mimic the characteristics of sodium lamps or sunlight in cloudy conditions, for example.
The RGBACL full-spectrum light engine is based on state-of-the-art ARRI lighting technology and ensures the highest authenticity in skin tones and color rendering. Eight pixel zones per LED panel meet all requirements of modern console programming, professional visual effects and virtual production environments.
The SkyPanel X offers different formats (horizontal 2:1 (X21), square 2:2 (X22), vertical 2:3 (X23) and is capable of producing soft area light as well as powerful, hard or intense open light. Three front attachments are available for this purpose: the X21 Dome for soft light, the S60 Adapter (optional) for using all existing SkyPanel S60-C accessories, and the HyPer Optic (also optional) for hard light.
ARRI SkyPanel X 2:1 with HyPer Optic
The X21 Dome curved diffuser comes with every SkyPanel X and produces natural, soft light. It can be quickly (de)mounted on the front of the fixture without tools. The HyPer Optic is an optional optic with eight individually controllable pixel zones and can also be quickly mounted to the front of the swine spotlight. With the HyPer Optic, the SkyPanel X becomes a tool for medium and long distances, bundling multiple individual lenses into a single beam (4,800 lux at 10 meters).
Thanks to the SkyPanel X's modular design, users can choose between, interchange or combine the X21 Dome and HyPer Optic to create soft, semi-soft, semi-hard or native-hard light. Power consumption is just 800W per 2:1 panel, according to ARRI.
SkyPanel X is designed for maximum durability and reliability. It is fully protected from rain, storms or high-pressure cleaning and has been certified to IP66 for use in all weather conditions. SkyPanel X also features wireless control, advanced networking capabilities and an integrated power supply.
Multiple SkyPanel X units can be linked together via the X Modular Yoke and ARRI Quick Lock system to form a single unit that can then be controlled as a whole. Speaking of which, the SkyPanel X offers extensive control and connectivity options, including built-in wireless control, two Ethernet ports, LumenRadio CRMX2 and Bluetooth 5.0. IP66 rating also applies to the ALL-WEATHER Control Panel.
SkyPanel X runs on new LiOS3 software, a Lighting Operating System (LiOS) that combines and expands the functionality of previous ARRI LED fixtures, including DMX Mode Spec. 6.0, DMX user presets, array setup for multi-unit control, and three ARRI ALEXA modes that support Color Science from the ALEXA 35 and earlier ALEXA and AMIRA camera systems.
A new ARRI LiCo app enables direct communication between SkyPanel X and mobile devices remotely via Bluetooth. Lighting settings can be adjusted directly from the smartphone or tablet, just as with the unit's ALL-WEATHER Control Panel. The app is available for free for iOS and Android devices and will soon be available for download from the App Store and Google Play.
The Skypanel X will be shown at IBC in Amsterdam; ARRI does not disclose pricing.
