Following the ![]() DJI Osmo Mobile 8P with new FrameTap remote control FrameTap: Selfies from a distanceThe most striking innovation compared to the Osmo 8 is the Osmo FrameTap—a detachable remote control with its own display that mirrors the camera view of the connected smartphone or the optional Multifunctional Module 2. A joystick allows for remote control of the gimbal as well as the zoom of the connected smartphone. ![]() DJI FrameTap remote control ActiveTrack 8 and Apple DockKitFor tracking, DJI relies on the new ActiveTrack 8 via the slashCam Mimo app, which is now said to be capable of tracking subjects even in busy environments such as concerts or sporting events. Alternatively, iPhone users can track subjects using Apple&s DockKit technology—both in the native camera app and any other app that uses iOS camera APIs, such as FaceTime, Instagram, TikTok, and hundreds of other camera apps. The iPhone then handles the tracking itself instead of DJI&s app and controls the gimbal. ![]() DJI Osmo Mobile 8P as a robotic cameraman via tracking Multifunctional Module 2 brings improved tracking for any subjectAnother way to automatically follow subjects via the gimbal is provided by the optional Multifunctional Module, which can be easily attached magnetically to the gimbal handle. It offers features such as independent tracking (separate from the smartphone/app) using its integrated camera, as well as a small spotlight and audio recording using DJI&s wireless microphones. ![]() DJI Osmo Mobile 8P folded and unfolded with FrameTap and Multifunctional Module 2 DJI has also released an improved version of this module, which brings new features to the Osmo Mobile 8P compared to its predecessor, such as the ability to adjust the brightness and color temperature of the integrated fill light in eight levels, support for connecting to DJI&s new DJI Mic 3 and DJI Mic Mini 2 wireless microphones (no longer just the Mic Mini), and improved tracking that now detects pets and other objects like cars or landmarks in addition to people. Stabilization, battery, and portsThe DJI Osmo Mobile 8P weighs approximately 386 g and features an integrated fold-out tripod (with a wider opening angle than its predecessor) as well as a 215 mm extension rod. DJI specifies the battery life at up to 10 hours. The integrated USB-C port allows the smartphone to be charged during recording—practical for longer sessions or live streams. ![]() DJI Osmo Mobile 8P Creative modes in the Mimo appThe DJI Mimo app brings a range of cinema modes to the 8P: DynamicZoom (dolly zoom effect), Slow Shutter (light trails, ideal at night), Action Shot (fast tracking for sports subjects), and a widescreen mode with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio for direct, cinemascope-style filming without the need for later cropping. Additionally, there is 360° Infinite Spin for smooth panoramic rotations, which can keep subjects continuously in focus, even when moving around the gimbal. ![]() DJI Osmo Mobile 8P Creator Combo Prices and availabilityThe DJI Osmo Mobile 8P is available immediately in the following configurations: The Osmo Mobile 8P Standard Combo costs 159 euros and includes the Osmo Mobile 8P, the DJI OM Magnetic Phone Clamp 5, and the Osmo FrameTap.
